Hey people, new to this forum. This is my car, a 1984 Purvis Eureka F4 Kit car. Managed to pick it up for $2500 with some shitty red paint,siezed motor and pretty much everything screwed. So far i've put close to $7000 into it and it needs another $4000 :D Car is built over a Vw Beetle so it uses all the bug running gear. New interior is coming last.

The car makes only about 75hp BUT it weighs 780kg and has really low gearing. Also the thing is going to be louder than anything on the road. tell me what you think! not bad for a 17 year old? Its not finished so be nice :p

you could have done up a 300z....

but good job, if i squint hard enough, it kinda does look like a veyron

Whats the point of doing up a 300zx, theres thousands of them. Theres only 680 purvis eureka's in australia so i like owning a rare car. Also for parts, when it comes to the motor,chassis etc i usually go to a Vw specialist. As for the windows and headlight covers, you can go to a plastic manufacturer with a template and they will make it for you.

i think my old daewoo would beat it.

i'd rather do up a older car. with a 1.8-2L in it. maybe even a rotor.
datto 1600, or mazda 1300.

but each to their own i guess

Put a big, late model, air-cooled bike engine in it. XJR1300, GSX1400 etc...
You'll have near twice the power and a lot better reliability than an ancient aircooled VW.

Awesome project though.

The car isnt as slow as people tend to think. BMW 318i's,1.5 Lancers and all the other N/A cars under 1900cc are easy to pick off. You all seem to be forgetting that torque is what gets you going not hp. My car puts out 100+ ft-lb of torque in a 780kg car while lancers etc put out 85ft-lb with 1100kg in them.

When im off my P's the car is going to be SR20 powered with a Porsche G50 gearbox.

ahhk cool... i was gunna say, it might be a bit impractical as a daily lol. Doesn't the roof lift up to get in? or does this one have doors

You're an idiot. It'll be easy as to sell for the right price. You never make money on any classic car project.

Those aren't exactly amazing cars. Your power to weight ratio is rubbish. V6 commodores will have about twice the power to weight. SR20 should be mad though, I guess the VW is a good cheap stand in till then.

Personally, I'd be inclined to save money in the longterm, and just put the SR20 in now. Just drive it round the block on quiet afternoons. Or take it out to the old road at 3am when there's hardly any cops.

I think I actually saw one of these for sale by the side of the road once. It could have been a different kit car, but it looked exactly like this, with the lifting roof etc... It was stunning looking, blue, with huge fat tyres. The best thing I'd ever seen, though it looked a bit claustrophobic, with no windows or doors. We stopped, hoping to take a test drive. Turned out, it was an empty shell. With a $5000 price tag, which was a bit over the top. He told us how people put WRX motors and stuff in them.

You're the idiot, my dad has an SL/R 5000 which is insured for $35,000 more than he bought it for.
Think about XB, XA, XY, XW Falcons (particularly the GT's), LC, LJ, LH, LX Toranas... i know plenty of people who have made money on their projects.

Of course if you do a resto you would have more chance of making money or at least breaking even, but if you go overboard with the project, (especially if it isnt anything special on the tags) then you'd lose money.

While they may not be amazing cars, they are the exact cars that P platers are driving these days. Commodore V6's might be able to leave me in the dust but when it comes to looks they dont compare, i've had people come upto me asking questions about it etc im sure commodore drivers dont get that. As for putting an SR20 in now, i dont have $10,000 to put into that conversion. My initial idea was to get a custom tube chassis, EJ20T STi motor with a 6speed STi box in a midmount position but that would cost close to $20,000 and getting it registered would be a bitch.
