The best way to prevent violence is to throw all the drunken bogans out into the street at exactly the same time.

They should take a leaf out of Victoria's book. They don't allow new guests in after 2 am, but they don't close either. Not sure if this is already the case.

alcopop tax
the pornproof firefence
pubs closing at 2am
recession

this is fucked. i am starting to regret voting in labour.

Wollongong has had a law where food establishments [except mcdonalds, dunno how they got past that one, probably bribary knowing our corrupt local government] cant be open past i think it was 2am. I think the idea was so that drunk people dont hang around, getting food, hassling people etc and that everyone is cleared out of the city by like 3am. Its fucked though, ruined a few good businesses like kabab shops and a nice little late night takeaway called johny b goodes. The bullshit thing is their zoning laws are fucked, so you can walk like 200m down the street from the nightclubs and walk into a kebab store that is open, just because it isnt classed as "city centre" or some bullshit. Basically looks like it ruined the competition for those select food outlets and now they make a killing in drunk fare.

Clubs still close at 3am, just food has to be closed by 2am.

TacoJihadMcCuntface: Why do you hate freedom when you love Obama?

All the evidence leads to the fact that the pornproof endoffreedom is a team go ahead

Alcopops tax made no sense and is a moral panic decision; I assume you're intelligent enough to realise that political decisions need to be made logically not out of emotional disgust

Same as pubs closing at 2am, what benefit does it bring? Less people are allowed to spend their money the way they want; fucks the economy. Means drunk angry people (omg voodoo pharmacology) are out on the streets fucking each other's shit up.

Man I don't see the benefits and I can't decide whether you can because you're some doss cunt that hates fun/the west or actually has an insight into the situation.

Disabuse me of this notion.

"omg the alco pop tax wuz sooooah gud cuz now dah yungen dunt drink az much!!1"

No dice. As I mentioned before, its driven up the sale of hard liquor.
I have a 16 year old sister who is going through the 'getting on the turps is fun!' phase. Im down with that. But I would much rather her buy a 4 pack of smirnoff mixed double blacks than a bottle of vodka. She is provided with a specific amount, mixed to an appropriate standard and is aware of how much shes drinking because it tells you on the neck, rather than mixing her own haphazardly and ending up completely fucking fucked.
Those in favour of the tax say alcopops are trying to hook kids on alcohol. Well duh. The kids who end up consuming them do so out of rebellion, curiousity and often plain peer pressure. But they are much safer with measured, premixed amounts.

I have not seen the alcopop tax stop anyone from buying any alcopops apart from cruisers. They just bought udl instead. If you want to get smashed why buy either, you can get 2 cartons of extra dry for the price. mmm how i love my extra dry. also, 16 year olds are shit and cant drink for shit anyway and a 6 pack will get them written off so it doesnt matter.
