Uh -uh...I think bulk billing is when the government, not the patients, pay the doctors service fees. So the rate at which doctors bulk bill is determined by how much the government is willing to pay...I think.

Its more then that...being a nursing student i should know what it is...but i'm lazy and i have a book of readings that argues the pros and cons of bulk-billing vs privatisation ( partially/completely ) and generally the trend states the overall costs of privatisation seem cheaper, but that it really isn't and full costing shows how all that money going to private hospitals would be better spent on public. these aren't a reflection of my views, its just what it says in my book of readings.

I feel that it is particularly suspicious that Family First, an undeniably outrageous and neo-nazi(?) party that backs Liberal was coincidentally able to propel the child porn scandal to the forefront of their campaign.

Call me cynical but if Democrats, who back Labour, did lose their supporters to FF as Asquithian has said, then it may appear that Liberal's campaign was not so simple as to have only been the interest rate debacle.

Well Xyama and cherryblossom, Howard would have had to increase spending in defense because of the involvement in Iraq...And how did my post suggest that I believed funds from the GST would be redistributed to the US?! All I said was that having a GST should mean better public services...and instead we've seen the opposite (ie. the decline in bulk billing "The percentage of Doctors bulk billing has dropped from 80.6% to 68.5%, as of the March 2003 quarter".

He wasn't saying the money was going to the United States, rather, all of the money collected from the GST is split between our various states. The issue is whether it's split fairly (NSW govt would say it's not) but that's another story.

This is what forums are about whinging...ranting..saying what your angry about..Obviously if its given back to the states, then they're not getting enough. I doubt they would sqaunder funding that is so desperately needed.

And I said that instead of funding improved public services, funding must have gone elsewhere.

the australian electorate seems to have a very short memory...the howard government knows this...he knows he can flaunt their trust...lie...do all kinds of things....

I was wondering at this today as well actually, I for one won't be forgetting, but it seems that lots of people really don't seem to mind that they've been misled time and time again.

Perhaps this is the case with all politicians, and I'm sure it probably is to an extent, but I'd still be inclined to remove the current offender and select a brand new person to lie to me, rather than reward the same one for doing it time and time again.
