if it says excluded does that mean i can never do it, even though it may be required in my major?
sorry for the many posts, Math1031 has in the section excluded ECON1202 which is a compulsory core course in economics/science so does that mean i cannot do both. Confused?

Yes if you do Math1031 it will count towards your science degree and you can't do Econ1202 which means you must do an extra economics elective (if you do Econ1202) you must do a science elective

what happens if i want to transfer to commerce economics, should i get rid of Math 1031? will it effect me if i do happen to transfer?

For ECON1202, the substitute courses are: MATH1031 or MATH1131 or MATH1141. Since ECON1202 is a compulsory course for comm/eco does that mean if do MATH1031, i'm not required to ECON1202 if i do get to transfer.Capture.PNG

By the way, how do you count a Maths course towards your science or eco degree?

Oh, anyone, is my timetable okay?

since you are also planning on transferring, i think i have to (since I haven't done any HSC science), when is the earliest one can do that? for even just the eco course. how many eco courses and science did you put down. so wait since Math1131 excludes Maths1031 (compulsory), and i enrolled in both, does that mean i can only pick Maths 1031? how come it still allowed to make a timetable. thanks anyway and sorry for the very long posts.

Since I have chosen two maths courses for the science component, it means I cannot continue doing those economics courses, right? By the way, we haven't chosen our majors, yet?

sorry, i just can't seem to get it. Can you tell me how to fix this timetable?
From UNSW handbook "Note on possible substitutes:
ECON1202 The following courses are adequate substitutes: MATH1031 or MATH1131 or MATH1141 or MATH1151.ECON1203 The following course is an adequate substitute:MATH1041 A student is also entitled to an exemption from the sequence ECON1202 and ECON1203 if s/he has successfully completed any one of the following complete sequences: MATH1131/MATH1231 or MATH1141/MATH1241 or MATH1151/MATH1251."

With that said do NOT do 2 Maths courses especially if 1131 is way harder then 1031. If I was you I would drop Math1131 and use your free electives in your degree to do something relevant to comm/eco degree. Also if you do Math1031 you should will be exempt from doing Econ1202 and you can do Econ1203 as normal if you transfer

They have a look at your WAM and check to see if you have completed any other requirements.

https://student.unsw.edu.au/ipt-business

The UNSW IPT Process is very simple compared to most universities, I hear it's mainly done online.

From what I linked you, Comm/Eco requires a 75 WAM, 36 UOC (hence 6 subjects).

It seems as if the earliest you will be able to transfer would be by the end of Semester 2, UNSW has a maximum limit of 27UOC and Comm/Eco requires 36.

Best to do as much relevant subjects of Comm and Eco for now, I suppose.

Wish you the best!

Science/Law

Guys any opinions/thoughts? I feel a bit overwhelmed with the gaps (how do I even pass the time lol) and all those long days, but I guess I have a long weekend every week...
Those aren't even considered long gaps lol

I'd say it's good to have those 1hr breaks form tuts/lectures, back to back would just burn me out personally.

How about joining some clubs? Check their schedule so it suits your's?

I'd say it's pretty good, you also end regularly by 5PM - guess that makes for a bit of structure.

snipez264, what do you mean by free electives in my degree? so, for eco/science we have to choose 2 eco compulsory courses and any two science right? I sorta have to do two maths because i didn't do any science in hsc and did pretty well in 4 unit maths.

So since, it says students should choose maths course relevant to their specialisations, couldn't i choose MATH1131 as well as Discrete Mathematics 1081. I don't really know how to include comm/eco related degrees with the science to make it easier for when i do transfer.

You have 2 free electives in your degree which you can do any subject from any faculty. You cannot do Math1031 and Math1131 and ill use this analogy. Let MATH1031 = General Maths and Let Math1131 = Advanced Maths. You see if you do Math1131 (2 unit), you can't do general maths as that is the Hsc's rules. So this is also true here as doing Math1131 you CANNOT do Math1031

Also, MATH 1131 excludes you from doing any other Maths courses (Excluded: ECON1202, ECON2291, MATH1011, MATH1031, MATH1141, MATH1151)

Check here: http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/courses/2015/MATH1131.html as it excludes you from doing those subs. Meaning only do one math course
