hey, how come they call it a scholarship if u have to work for 15 hours per week without getting paid?? so does the scholarship money comes to u, or goes straight to paying ya fees? coz, if it went straight to the UTS fees...then thats just lame!!!
nah they give me a cheque at the end of each semester - provided that i pass everything.

15 hours a week isn't that much.... and when you think about it, all that experience will make you so much more employable.....

Here are a few questions....

Figure out what your hourly rate would be ie how much they are paying you per hour (so divide the scholarship amount by the amount of hours you are working for them).... if it is less than what you get paid in a normal casual job, then they are kinda exploiting you.

If it is a reasonable amount then think about it some more. I would love to get offered a job in the field that I probably want to work in when I graduate... you will be setting yourself up for much higher graduate earnings!!!

Edit: Just reread some stuff.... 12 years!!!! No way that's too long to commit yourself for at this age.

yeah, good point u have there, basically experience means higher graduate earnings...but i guess the downfall of the contract was that she was stuck with that company for 12 years!!!

Nope.
I have nothing against USYD, or ANY uni in that matter.
I just think some of the replies in this thread epitomises the total stupidity of some USYD people.

The creator of this thread asked for objective advice not your fuckin "OH MY USYD I LOVE IT" kinda bullshit.

------------------------------------------------------------
As for my opinion.
USYD IS a nice uni. nice place to be in. undeniably a prestigious uni.
USYD in my view is execellent for courses such as commerce, arts, advanced arts, law etc.
However, i believe it is below par when it comes to computing and engineering courses. I believe UTS excel in those fields.
