I think it depends on the person, whether they can juggle having a partner and doing the HSC, whether you can still sustain a relationship during stressful times like exams, if having a partner will distract them rather then make them work better and if they will actually support you.. (especially if they're older)

I myself (even though I'm casually seeing someone) would rather not have a partner during the HSC because of the heart ache it might cause. I don't deal with stress well, so I would spend more time worrying about if they will support me properly, if they will put up with me etc etc...

last year I was seeing a guy who was doing his HSC and it was actually the exams that ruined us.

If you break up before HSC, it's possible that one or both of you will be so miserable you won't be able to study or concentrate in exams.

If you feel you need to break up for the HSC period... that's just stupid. Sure you won't see each other as much, but why go through all the breakup crap?

Agreed.

I find all this HSC relationship crap bullshit. A good relationship gets past anything. HSC is nothing compared to what life has ahead. Yes - stick with me 08ers - life is a journey and the HSC is just a bump in the road.

Clicheee.

Relationship during HSC years?

Well I personally think it's a big no-no. Some may disagree, but getting in a relationship is too distracting. Some may find it perfectly easy to juggle the whole mumbo jumbo and school, but I find it a waste of time to be honest. Although my friends say when they are "stressed" they can just go to their partner for comfort and vise versa, which makes it better. But I personally think it's a load of bull.

Anyways, maybe I'm just a sadist who can't get any, maybe not. Tell me about your views, cause I feel like a loser around my friends, especially when they all have boyfriends.

Yeah I think its a double edged sword, when the relationship is good it can help you at school by de-stressing you. But when it's bad it can seriously fuck up your HSC.

Even though its a distraction, one cant help the way they feel right?
Personally I think staying away from relationships draws people into a relationship.
Sorta like when you avoid something, it keeps on coming up.

But who knows, its definitely a distraction though >_<

Why must teen girls make this thread every year?

Simply put if you can't juggle HSC with life then you're never going to be able to juggle uni/work/whatever with having a life.

Why break-up for? Still see eachother and all, just not so much time. Sacrifice some time for him/ her to study instead.

Would you really stop liking or loving your partner because you miss out on seeing them for a week or so? I think that's ridiculous. :spzz:

I would say no. If I broke up with my split with my girlfriend before HSC, all I would think about is her, so I think I'd go worse during exams... :haha:

i actually started going out with my boyfriend a week before the HSC. We saw each other everyday for an hour during the HSC which was fine. He used to pick me up from my exams and drop me off vice versa. So i really dont think there is a need to break up from a relationship during the HSC. We both went well and are still together.

i think the HSC is just a lame excuse for people to break up.
if they really loved and cared for one another there would be no need for the idea to be even bought up. strong couples will care and support one another no matter what. none of this backing out shit just bcos they are scared

This is the most stupid thing I've ever heard.
This question requires no thinking.

If you're in a relationship during the HSC, and you're both perfectly functioning, smart humans, you both will be able to balance work and socialising.

You both have careers to think about, you both will study for the exams, why do you need to break up?

Exactly. End discussion.
