depends what it is for, doesn't it? what's the likelihood of them calling to notify 1st on a saturday when most people are busy or out - especially in the christmas period?lyounamu said:But BOS can/does make phone calls on weekends though.
Haha, I think I've read this about 5 times in different threads when was the ceremony last year, just out of interest?dp624 said:Pipping in to say a friend got a call on the friday for ag last year.

I go places...Haha.lyounamu said:For most HSC students, weekdays = weekends, are they not? It's not like they go somewhere on weekdays.
Cool. thanks for that infolyounamu said:What did they call? I don't know because the most people I know who came first were from my own school and I didn't ask them (e.g. 1st in Business Studies, Physics and Mathematics). But I know for sure they can call on weekends. Lecturers told me about that.
Yeah, I forgot about that factor too. That can be the reason why they can call today/tomorrow then...fallenstar said:I go places...Haha.
Don't know, it just seems logical to give people advance notice so they can attend the ceremony, especially considering some state-rankers don't live in Sydney. But whatevs. Let's wait and see.
Cool. thanks for that info

Nah, phone call. Letters take time + can go boom.Pwnage101 said:wouldnt they send a letter, rather than make a phone call
In previous years, the top 10 in the state for Society & Culture received letter notification. However, I think this was about a week after the initial phone call to the 1st-ranked person. Also, these letters often notified students of awards for their major works. Thus, it's relative to the subject in question - for those subjects which don't require a major, such as MX2, those students may just receive internet notification like everyone else when the ranks are posted on Wednesday.dp624 said:Nah, phone call. i have to do a fuckload of wishing:
-hsc results
-state ranks
-uai
-course acceptance
somewhere amidst all that, there's a pip award...hahah
It is an award for a Society & Culture Major Work, awarded by the Society & Culture Association which is comprised of BOS execs, eminent sociologists, teachers etc. It's quite hard to attain as 5000+ PIPs (Personal Interest Projects/Major Works) are sent to the external marking centre and only about 10 receive categorised awards e.g. Gender Studies Prize. Those who attain awards need to receive either full marks on their major work, or 29/30 for a distinction prize.lyounamu said:what is pip award?
why exactly were you hanging out with teachers?Patar said:argh
I wasn't even THINKING about results at all until my parents, 2 teachers and a few of my friends brought it up over the course of the day (yesterday)
now that box that I packed away the thoughts in at the back of my mind is starting to clatter.
It's ..... alive!!!!!!!!!!!
so now I'm a little apprehensive. not too much though.
