Yep, finished October 12. Markers have two weeks to mark, then one week for consultation and examiners meeting. Marks could be released by around early November :(

How did your comparative welfare states essay go? Which Q did you end up doing?
I picked the last one, 'Critically evaluate the concept of ‘welfare state regimes’. How useful is this concept in understanding the political influences of social policy?'
Ended up getting 73% for it. Not my best work, this semester I've just been really off, I don't know why.

Speaking of fucked, the rest of my life will be because I'm doing an Arts degree with a major in English and my WAM is most likely fucking awful, like high 50s maaaaaaaaaybe 60. My UAI was 86.3. I have one semester left after this then I finish the degree. How do I go about finishing it by the way because I'm clueless? Do they do it all for me and then just tell me to turn up to a place at a time to hand me my several thousand dollar sheet of paper? Or do I have to do something?

So yeah enough of that tangent. Cliffs are I have a terrible degree with a terrible WAM but I want to finish it, take a semester off, then do a different degree in 2011. Something businessy or something, idk. Will this even be possible with this bad a WAM? I really want to do the degree at USyd (seems very unlikely, even if they overlook WAM I don't think I have a high enough UAI), UNSW, UTS or Mac. Do I have any chance of getting into economics/commerce/business/accounting/etc. at any of these unis? Money shouldn't be too much of an issue (unless we're talking like, 30k+ a year :\), I have a decent amount saved up and I'm still "working". Also how do I go about applying, is it just through UAC or do I do something else? I'm 90% sure I've lost my UAC info.

I know there's a lot to cover there but if anyone has any info or can point me in the direction of where to get some, that would be awesome.

You'll apply through UAC. The process is very simple, it pretty much guides you through it. On your marks, I really don't think there will be a problem getting into whatever you want. I've had friends enrol on science, fail 2 subjects and still get into Economics, the university wants you, so I think you should be fine.
Also, take a year off, who knows you might fall into a job you really like. English I would've thought is a really good broad base to get into work, especially with foreign companies.

i think there's someone in my chemistry lab who knows who i am. i said "neb" something today because it was written down somewhere, and this dude walks past and goes "hehe nebuchanezzar"

o_O

also, i accidently set off some alarm in the chemistry building today

i got a tour of the research labs and to unlock the sliding door to get out i accidently pushed the emergency exit button and was told off by an academic lol.. no honours for me with him i guess :(

but it was worth it to get the tour! hawt!

if you major in chemistry, well, our 3rd years labs aren't quite as exciting. just go up to level 5, peer into the 2nd year labs and times the amount of glassware/reagents by about 5.
