Be that as it may, it still has compatibility issues which can be a real pain in the ass. So for now, though I thought I would never say this, XP FTW!
Most programs have vista versions now, i've had no compatibility issues so far. Just make sure you get the 32bit/86x version and not the 64x version ^^

vista is shit. It's much slower than xp. I cannot seriously make any notes on my comp because it's TOO SLOW.

OMG, I need to go back to that ancient time when we use xp.
Wow you need to upgrade your comp oO

My cousin is using vista fine and it's just an intel dual core 1.6 GHz with 2gb RAM and an 80gb hard drive so vista should be fine on normal computers.

I have no problems with vista at all on my laptop, but thats because i have awesome hardware. The specs for the $999 pc in the OP would run vista perfectly fine, but theres still the issue of the graphics card.
And if its not for gaming, then you'll live with a 2ghz dual core cpu and 2gigs ram, u'd save heaps of money too.

Did anybody fail to mention that withotu a 64bit OS (XP/Vista), there isn o use in getting 4gb of ram?

I still wouldn't get an integrated video card. Get an el-cheapo one such as 8600GT? 8800GT? 9500GT? depending on how much you want to spend. If you want to play high-res videos on your comp, an integrated video card will stutter. Mark my words.

And 4gb's is pretty much overkill if not gaming or doing anything hardcore. get 2gb. I game, and burn dvds and such, and 2gb of ram is certainly enough.

I'm a virgin as well, but i don't fancy the idea of paying someone to sleep with them ... especially when god knows how many people have slept with them. ;o

stop lying wrxsti. its $959. so its <1000.

btw, the motherboard that supports the system is like $600. (GigaByte EX58 DS4 Extreme)

but then you would also need a good graphics card. maybe a ASUS 1GB GTX280 for $630 ?

and then the ram? 6gig DDR3 for $400

umm.... 3TB HDD for $490

and a DVD/blueray burner for $250

what about a screen? samsung 275T+ for $950

speakers.... logitech Z-5500 THX.....$400

water cooling case + 1000Wpower supply $800

umm.....TOTAL

$5479.00
