it doesnt really depend on what uni you go to. your social life is what you make of it
Well said.
Tbh, you can find many things to do at any uni. Every uni will have their societies for your niche areas of interest. There's even stuff like quidditch competitions, sport festivals, parties, etc. Usually for things involving sports they will have competitions between different unis too.
Like I even get the chance to make designs for a race car and its damn pretty cool.
Other than that, you can find people which you will spend the next 4 or 5 years with at uni. I've already found quite a large group of us doing the same program and I'll be seeing them a few times a week for the next few years at uni. And we usually discuss about work and keep constant reminders and stuff too. We also pretty much chill at uni all the time (and sometimes out of uni too). I guess this part of making good friends is one of the easier ones if you can find those who attend the same lectures and tutorials and stuff with you. Don't be afraid to talk and introduce yourself!!!
Something as simple as "What do you study?" is good enough as an introduction, then maybe a handshake or whatever and then the convo unfolds.
So social life is what you make of it. And also, regarding the claims about everyone at UNSW being asian, not all my friends are asian
I have quite a good mix of friends who have grown up in Australia with backgrounds from all over the world (except maybe the Americas and Antarctica, but then again that's not the stereotype in question here
).
I have met people from the Americas, though have not become friends with one I met from uni.
