But there's nothing else to tell. Only the real hardcore fans care what happens after the end of Return of the Jedi (as opposed to the new films, where people were curious because we already know what it's about), and there's all those books that would have to be over-written.

Hey, George Lucas has put a ban on ALL Expanded Universe writers from detailing the events surrounding Han Solo meeting Chewbacca and his early years at Imperial Acadamey (ever wonder how he knew 'Standard Imperial Procedures' so well in Episode V?). Since Episode 3 visits Kashyyyk, the Wookie home world, it's highly possible (and virtually expected) that Harrison Ford will make a cameo as a younger Han Solo in the film. How do you make it look like he de-aged 45 years in the space of about 10-20 standard years? Simple: makeup/CGI.

Do the math, Han Solo cant be in Episode 3, he would be too young. The reason Chewies able to be in it is because in Episode 4 he is like 200 years old

Episode 1 takes place 32 years before the Battle of Yavin (BBY). Episode 2 takes place a decade later, or 22 years BBY. Episode 3 is set at the end of the Clone Wars, three years later (19 years BBY). Now, Luke and Leia are born at the end of Episode 3 which makes them roughly 19-20 years old. In Epsiode IV Luke mentions that he wants to join the Imperial Acadamey. So, assuming they take on new recruits starting at the age of 18, and it's known that Han did actually make it into the acadamey, it's fairly safe to say he's nearly twice as old as the twins, somewhere in this mid-thirties, so it's close, but altogether possible that he'll be there - maybe Imperial Acadamey existed under a different name during the Clone Wars (remember, Palpatine used the Clones to give the Empire and Instant Army), and Han joined thinking he was doing the right thing.

It's also known that Han had a pretty messed-up childhood and was brought up be space gypsies. Since he's a smuggler, he has the ability to lie like there's no tomorrow, and do it convincingly - he mentions to Obi-wan and Luke that the Falcon completed the notorious Kessel Run in under 12 Parsecs, which isn't possible. So if he can lie so convincingly, what's to say he didn't lie about his age to get into the Acadamey?

I like the Expanded Universe stories. Grand Admiral Thrawn was a great villian and the X-Wing series was really engaging. I hate the introduction of the Yuuzhan Vong though. It stopped me reading about the Expanded Universe. Also if the were to include the Expanded Universe they would have to include Dreadnought capital ships as well as the Katana-fleet but they're not going to do that. I'm playing Knights Of The Old Republic II ATM.

I read somehwere that some guy was criticising Episode II because something didn't line up with the Expanded Universe, probably the creation of the Death Star. In Attack of the Clones the plans for the Death Star originate from Geonosis, but in the Expanded Universe they come from an un-named planet in the Maw Cluster, a group of Black Holes near Kessel.

Yeah that's right! I forgot which book it was... but it involved this kid and the indestructable Sun Crusher starship that was flown into the Maw ( a blackhole near Kessel ) by that kid. Anyways this is George Luca's story and even though the Expanded Universe was good some will be nullified if anything from Star Wars contradicts it which it has and will.
I think Lucas should make some of the Expanded Universe's stories as they are so much better, in some aspects, than Episode I or II.

I don't think Han is in his 20s. Harrison Ford was in his late thirties when A New Hope was filmed and I doubt that they would have made him play a person who's 15-20 years younger than his real age..

I would say that what Argonaut said was just common knowledge to anyone who likes Star Wars.
