Better than expected! But I did think everyone was underestimating Australia.

Not sure if I should stay up and watch the rest of play lol...

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

despite our position, i am still SO PISSED at the decision for khwaja, how THE F**K can the umpire stand there looking so smug as if he's made the right decision and give out? that was bloody ridiculous

England were mentally destroyed by Australia. After that, they couldn't pick themselves up.

Ok maybe...but surely there is another reason! They were winning all the ashes series beforehand. Then why all of a sudden?

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

To be honest it wasn't that all of a sudden. Towards the end of the earlier 2013 Ashes (the one in England), Australia were beginning to gain momentum. They only lost that last game by 14 runs. From there, a little bit of luck, a little bit of home ground advantage gave Australia a win in the first Australian Ashes test and some more much needed confidence and it just went from there. After every loss, England's confidence depleted. And as mentioned, England got destroyed mentally and just couldn't pick themselves back up after losing those first two tests badly. Injuries to Trott and retirement of Swann mid-series didn't help their cause too much either. Boy will they be glad that series was over. Hope they get something in the ODI's :p

Mitchell Johnson. He was in form and demoralised them. Trott left after one game and he is a wonderful player, without him they weren't at their best.

Also can't ignore the effect Darren Lehmann has had on the team, the team gets along with him better than the English do with Flower.

There's just a heap of reasons that piled on.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Awww ok I see. There are reasons i guess. The main thing which appealed to me was that Cook apologised to England supporters at the end, showing his care and that they obviously didn't do it on purpose. Yeah there were heaps of disruptions. I still don't get why Swann retired mid series honestly. And have you seen the number of last names starting with "B" in the English cricket team? Hilarious!
Hopefully ODIs mann

Starting with B? I think you mean how many last names are real words. England have a Cook, CarBerry, Root, Bell, Prior, Broad, Swann, Trott, Balance. Seriously :p
