You can expect to see a big increase in salaries when the A-Lague gets more exposer in the AFC, expect to see players easily have salaries excess in $400,000 per year.
Heard of the concept of a salary cap?

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

So now that the A-League is over for a few months, does anyone out there follow the NSW Premier League as well? And if so, what club do you support?

I support Sydney Olympic (no, I'm not Greek), as I went and saw my one and only NSL game at Kogarah Oval for something to do when I was down in Sydney, so I stuck with em. Komit, I'm guessing your a Bankstown City supporter?

Yeah, he supports them.

Fuck Rockdale Scum!

Yes, I am a big Bankstown City supporter (but I also regularly attend Marconi games - when they don't clash with Bankstown games) and pissed off. Last night was horrible. 2-0 up against Wollongong Wolves and lost it 3-2.

Big game on Wednesday night against Olympic. We need the win.

Nah, I don't live in Sydney, so the best I can do is follow on the net. If you could post the result that would be great. What are the crowds like so far this season?

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

It would be a pity if both Michael Beauchamp and Dean Heffernan (Mariners) got signed up after their trial with Nurnberg, but I guess both fancy themselves sneaking into the WC squad. It was good to see Bobby pick up player's player of the season - even at 34 he is still such a talent.

Damian Petrovic.

Think he's playing right forward/striker.

He scored in their 2-0 win last weekend against Sydney United.

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Brockie bound for Sydney
Friday, 17 March, 2006 - 1:30PM

Inaugural Hyundai A-League champion Sydney FC has secured the services of New Zealand Knights striker Jeremy Brockie for the next two seasons.

Brockie, 18, scored four goals in nine starting appearances for the Knights and joins fellow rising stars Alex Brosque and Ruben Zadkovich as off-season recruits for the premier.

Under Pierre Littbarski, Sydney, the competition's glamour club, has during the inaugural season of the Hyundai A-League been home to former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke and Japanese star Kazuyoshi Miura.

While Miura was a temporary recruit, Yorke played a starring role in the grand final, setting up the match-winning goal and was adjudged the best-on-ground in the victory.

So Brockie and Brosque coming to Sydney. With Tolgay Ozbey coming through now, this gives us a strong-looking attack which is ALSO young.

Zdrillic can go get stuffed, as can Petrovski. Yorke hopefully sticks around, slotting in behind the strikers and feeding them quality ball.

Sydney FC look hard to stop for a second straight Premiership :)

Very pleased about signing Brockie, he was the only good thing about watching Knights games, and with the right development will be a very strong player for Sydney

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Abit disappointing to lose Sydney defender Paker to the Roar, an underated player if ever I saw one. Is there any other transfer speculation or new recruites coming to Sydney FC - besides of course Di Canio and Baggio? :D

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Players speculated include Luis Enqiue, Gabriel Batistuta, Teddy Sheringham, Edgar Davids, Dennis Bergkamp and Paolo Di Canio.

A very interesting transfer speculation is Max Vieri and Christian Vieri moving to Adelaide. Christian Vieri is reported to be retiring after the World Cup and is looking at an MLS move. Adelaide are interested and have predicted that he would cost about 2 million euros a year.
