Re: The Official Football Thread

I reckon Liverpool just need a re-shuffle in Defence and Midfield.

I was part of the West Ham team that played the Liverpool Academy last season, you guys have a talented goalkeeper in Dean Bouzanis. He simply would not let any goals in, until the end of the game when one of our strikers decided to take a stinging long shot. :D
Bouzanis is on loan, so there you go. and i'd never forget Reina and the beach ball incident..

This is the main reason as to why so many "English" youth kids never make the grade at decent EPL clubs. I find this very harsh as a few of my english mid-field mates at the Academy were told to go due to injuries (at the age of 16 :( )
that sucks, it's slack though. coz they probably haven't even had a proper chance to even play and show them that they can or not

Irrelevant?

If your already having injury problems at the age of 16 then your future doesnt look good.

Sucks for the kid but there are ways to minimise injuries and most of these kids dont heed that advice.

Yep this is so true. All of the EPL academies emphasise the importance of showing your talent, but they always tell the 15-16 year old lads to try and NOT over do it.

Also, some of these young lads just don't understand that injuries are bound to happen at some point in your career, its better off taking action asap. :D

so shak99, stop making common sense statements and tell us something we don't already know or haven't already been told a million times by every football analyst on earth.

Re: The Official Football Thread

LOL I doubt you're part of the West Ham Youth Academy.
I doubt that you are NOT a moron :D Well, whoever you are, you'd be surprised at the number of Academy players on Boredofstudies.

Re: The Official Football Thread

Many ignorant naive people believe that Chelsea spend £50m on each player. Man City has spent close to double what we have in one season, and yet they still not guaranteed top 4. Teams like Man Utd spend £20m-30m every summer, yet they never get criticised for being bankrolled by the Glazers. Roman Abramovich has stated since 2006, that Chelsea will spend less, since the farcical transfer of Shevchenko, and he has still kept his word. The money Abramovich has put in has been rebuilding facilities and paying wages to players and staff. He has also stated the club plans to clear off debts (which he has), break even soon, reduce losses (already achieving that, and soon break even) and become more self-sufficient. Obviously this is difficult when we have City spending £200m a season and offering Kaka £100m and Eto’o £50m+ and Real Madrid spending £80m on Cristiano.

In today's transfer market that just isn't enough. Spending more than they have increases the debt higher and raises the interest needed to be repaid. United are in a financial problem, which is why the club is in talks with JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank about a loan to pay off the loan they needed to pay off the debt. It's financial suicide! ... Abramovich knows this, he won’t allow Chelsea to become into a financial spot of bother, like what happened under Bates in 2002/03.

Then there’s this idea that Chelsea dominate the transfer market - but that’s absolute rubbish. Chelsea like what Man Utd did when they bought a young Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting, and Arsenal did with Fabregas and Mereida from Barcelona and Liverpool bought Pacheco from Barcelona, is to look for cheap players and grow them in the academies, which is what we’re doing with Kakuta, Borini, Bruma, Stoch, Hutchinson, Mancienne, Di Santo, Sinclair, Matic and Sturridge.
Yes we have an ageing squad, and sooner some of our first teamers will call it quits soon, so the young players we have will soon become first-teamers, which is why Ancelotti and Wilkins are giving them game time or loaning some for first team experience, preparing them to graduate to the Chelsea first team.

Ballack free
Pizarro free
Sidwell free
A.Cole £5m + Gallas
Deco £8m
Kalou £8m
Ivanovic £9m
Malouda £13m
Anelka £15m
Bosingwa £16m
Zhirkov £18m

Other than the stupid splash out on Shevchenko, that has been pretty much Chelsea's transfers in for the last 4 years. As I said before, it’s the Man U and Man City and Real Madrid who spend the £30m+ for the past 4 seasons, YET Chelsea gets all the bad press….
