Brazil + 3
Australia 0

Japan beats brazil 3-0 (as they'll need to beat us, if they expect a draw for our game against the croats)
We end up winning 1-0, for instance at the 90 min mark (so neither Japan or brazil knows the score and will have to work for a 3-0 japan scoreline)

Brazil 0
Australia +1

6 pts each.
It doesn't matter if Brazil gets beaten by 10 goals by Japan, they'll still be above Australia due to the head-to-head record. Goal difference comes in to separating teams when head-to-head record cannot separate the two teams.

Japan virtually has no chance of qualifyin. They need Croatia to beat Australia and they need to get a better goal difference than Croatia, or score more goals than Croatia.

Thats not right, goal difference is the first basis for comparisons. Read up on the regulations and you'll see it:

The ranking of each team in each group will be determined as
follows:
a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
b) goal difference in all group matches;
c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria,
their rankings will be determined as follows:
d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between
the teams concerned;
e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the
teams concerned;
f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the
teams concerned;
g) drawing of lots by the Organising Committee for the FIFA World
Cup™.

I just played my first few games of fifa 06 wc online and my third oponent was Croatian. Croatia v Australia game was so damn good.
At about 2 minutes on the clock they score from a header veeery easily. Their forward who's name i cant remember (has a pony tail) just powers it through (being much taller than the aussie guy i had marking him). Then, at about 40 mins, I equalise from a cross via a header as well.
Full time: 1-1 (and i'm smiling because I know that'd be the perfect result for us)
But since it was a ranked match it goes to extra-time, with 1-1 still. Then I won the penalty shootout 5-3. <3 aussie!

Oh, I guess FIFA changed the rules after the Nordic incident at Euro 2004.

I dont think FIFA control the Euro competitions. I think it's UEFA.

The Socceroos better tread lightly on Friday morning's game, several of the players are on yellow cards, and that's never a good thing.

1) Togo's coach has a bright fluroescent pink shirt. Ha.
2) Swiss are killing them overall
3) Togo's crazy on a counterattack and they sometimes do nuts things that make them come close to scoring

EDIT: Beautiful goal by the swiss. they're an exellent team

Yeah, it is UEFA who controls those compeitions. FIFA for World Cups/Confederations Cup and UEFA for Euros.
