Miami are 1-2 with their star studded lineup (early days yes, and no Shaq yes), but you'd they'd dominate regardless

I'd think star-studded lineups impede you from dominating. When you have 1 or 2 stars, you know what the pecking order is. When you have 3-4 stars, things become blurred even if it still should be obvious who should be controlling the rock.

It's a bit like Real Madrid. I don't see them dominating when they have the equivalent of a soccer all-star team.

yeah definatley true. ive read phil jacksons book, it was about when they lost to detroit, they had so many internal problems with shaq, kobe, payton and malone, not to mention other guys.

go the pistons...... big ben = defensive player of the year..

and to the person who said the nets... too many injury probe players - kidd, jefferson & carter.

What happened is T-mac's back.

Why's Yao shit? Yao's getting his 20 and 10s. He's still inconsistent but he's getting his 20s and 10s.

Swift's not really doing too much apart from the speculative dunk now and there. And Skippy is point god on the streetcourts, not the league.

So really, Rockets have a poor team + a spasming back. Hence the bottom.

But you're right. I'm surprised. Their slide isn't a slide anymore. It's a fucking spiral downwards.

They won't make it. Even if they do, what's the point. They'll get pwned first round. Again.

kobe is on fire, but can he keep it up? Lebrons numbers are growing exponentially, he is nuts! I wonder how long will it take him to average a triple double.

It's more like Kobe's on fire and Cavaliers on fire (obviously Lebron being the fuel :p).

Bryant scores 81 points for Lakers
January 23, 2006 - 5:14PM

Kobe Bryant has scored a staggering 81 points - the second-highest total in NBA history - as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors 122-104.

With the fans at Staples Centre chanting "MVP! MVP!" Bryant made two free throws with 43.4 seconds remaining for his final points, putting him behind only Wilt Chamberlain on the all-time scoring list.

Chamberlain scored 100 points for Philadelphia against the New York Knicks at Hershey, Pa., on March 2, 1962. His second-highest total was 78 against the Lakers in three overtimes on Dec. 8, 1961.

"I couldn't even dream of this when I was a kid," Bryant said. "There was no way possible."

Bryant left to a standing ovation with 4.2 seconds remaining, having shot 28-of-46 from the floor and 18-of-20 from the foul line.

Elgin Baylor held the previous franchise record of 71 points at New York on Nov. 15, 1960.

Michael Jordan's career high was 69 points, and only four players had ever scored more than 70 - Chamberlain, David Thompson, Baylor and David Robinson.

The 27-year-old Bryant made it five.

He played nearly 42 minutes, going the entire second half until being lifted by coach Phil Jackson. He scored 27 points in the third quarter and 28 more in the fourth.

Bryant scored 62 points during a 112-90 victory over Dallas last month, but sat out the fourth quarter because of the one-sided nature of the game. SuperSonics 152, Suns 149, 2OT
