if I'm on mains, I would forget whether I've voided something in the transaction. IMO - unneccessary.

Pyro - all of our smokes/liquor voids are automatically written up in reports, no matter if its a carton or just papers. Though we don't get asked to explain them.

I've noticed those slips starting to print out but we never have to fill them in, i'm so used to the SSO being like "i never read them" about pretty much everything that gets put in the drawer that i don't care anymore.

Work just rang for me to work, but im like, i'm already working today, cos CSM asked me on Friday, but she's like, you're not on the roster?? I shall rock up anyway.

I just hope Loss Prevention isn't there to sack me.

Roster this week quite average:
MON: 12-6 operator
TUE: 12:15-4 op, 4-21:15 supvsn
FRI: 9-6 operator
SUN: 10:15-19:15 dutymgr (which sounds as if it will probs get cut anyway)

me for the week:

Mon - 9-6.30 operator
Wed - 2-9.15 Smokeshop
Fri - 8.15-5.15 operator
Sat - 1.30-6.30 operator
Sun - 2-7 SSA

In reality, today will be a supervision shift because its me, 2IC (who is quite happy to sit on a main all day), and our new 3IC who seems to think I know everything. Massive LOL at the last one.

Yesterday we had a customer with a gift card that wasn't working, I tried pretty much everything I've ever been taught about gift cards, and rang about three stores desperately trying to get a manager somewhere thats good with checkouts. Of course, I couldn't get hold of an SSS either, luckily the guy was quite understanding so that NEEDS to be fixed today. Fairly sure I'll end up dealing with that too.

Isn't the idea of an SSS that they can help me when I need them? lol.

What was the problem with the gift card? If it won't swipe, you need to do a manual authorization using the GFS Merchant Support IVR.

Alternatively, you could issue a replacement card through the Giftcard Management website. Your CSM or SSM should be able to tell you how to do both of these.

For those who change front and back ends;

1. What time/day do you strip and build them?
2. Is it usually just grocery/longlife staff who do them?
3. How many ends do you have to build?

Anyway, at my store we have to build the ends every Monday morning from 5am onwards. We used to do backends on Sunday night/early Monday morning but SM got tight on wages and made us do all the ends on Monday mornings to save money. So back onto ends, we have 2 hours to strip and build 11 front ends by the time the store opens at 7am. Then we move onto backends until about 10am by which we go home.

A lot of our ends are actually built by company reps, either Sunday evening or Monday morning. Other ends without Reps are built by Night fill on Sunday. If they aren't built and no reps are coming in to build them it is usually the SM or Duty manager who do them on Monday morning. We have 6 front and back ends, plus we have promotion shelving at the front of the store with major specials on.

An operating ratio of 106% (what does that mean???) which according to SM will equate to customers spending a far longer amount of time waiting in queues.
Pretty much means while amount of work having to be completed/sales/etc remain the same, amount of hours put into the department decreases. If it's less than 100%, there are worries. The bakery in my store has 122% operating ratio (coz we're just so awesome like that), while I know that the bakery at our closest store is in shit for running at a 90% operating ratio!
(I might be wrong on some of this, but this is my basic understanding lol)

I watched my DM and SSM do those at night when we were really quiet. Took them about an hour and a half, but the ladder was huge and looked like fun to be on :p
SSM at my store used to use the ladder... but now he has this sort of doohickey
pole grabby thing to put it up with. So he just stands on the shop floor and reaches up with it.... yeahhh.

ALSO. Bakery has a grocery front end this week. Lol. We came into work at 3 am to build it, but nightfill/acting store manager filled it for us. What. the. fuck. I was pleasantly surprised :)

only six ends?

We have 6 bulk ends, and 10 cage ends we have to refill every week. There are two of us, given 8 hours each to do them, and if we're lucky we get a sales rep come in and do one of them.
Anything that isn't finished is done at 5am the next morning by the DM when they arrive at 5

We aren't allowed to laminate anymore
Waaat? For tickets too?

Not only do we (as in produce) laminate our tickets, so does Meat, Seafood and Deli. Also all Homebrand and Signature Range products in the store that hardly ever change prices have a permanent laminated 4pp ticket (Or 9pp depending on facings)

They've made us stop laminating tickets quite a while ago. They said for tickets in fridges/freeezer/landscape tickets we have to use the reusable sleeves, while for the rest no laminating or sleeves -_-

I'm pretty sure we're not even doing them for meat or deli now either. And all h/brand and wow select pouches are now also out the window. This should be for all stores. Work today was a bit shit..just wasn't fun. Although i found out the Assistant Manager at Chickenfeed (our version of the Reject Shop etc) has a crush on me.
