Hello everyone,

Im wondering if USYD allows students (first year undergrads) to pick and choose their times for the time table? I heard rumors that USYD does not let students choose their timetables. :S

If it helps, I plan to do B Engineering and B Science.

Much appreciated,

Kayven.

There's an online tool that lets you select what hours you don't want to be at university. I was able to get my lectures/tutorials in the places I wanted by tinkering with it for a while.

You're going to be there 5 days anyways (4 if you're lucky/have a few terribly long days that will make you want to kill yourself)

Aren't you a student there? LOL, and I am pretty sure you can create a timetable for yourself. ^__^

Looks like I get more or less all day from Monday to Thursday, and then Friday off.

Four unavoidable clashes and one triple clash :newburn:.

sux for you

I get 4/5 days depending on the week (iirc), which is fine because it's spread nicely and after last sem I realise I need that.
And like, only one arvo lab (I fall asleep in arvo labs and then I die. In first sem that was fine because I sat there and my lab partner did things, but MBLG1901 has a lab test and lab stuff in the final).

Well, I've only got eight practicals for chemistry and I don't know how many for physics so I don't think it'll be as bad as last semester.

I might be able to change the practical to a Friday, but the travel time (~3 hours all up) is worse than having the clash...

Coffee is one of my best friends, he can be your friend as well.

Most likely 12 contact hours (2hr lecture, 1hr tute) so you could fit that into 3 days if you're lucky.

^ Not saying you will get any of these classes as this is just a sample I created. There are so many classes and lecture streams to choose from. But you will get a day off maybe even two if you plan your units carefully. ^___^

Expect ~23 hours a week over five days. You can probably reduce that to four, with a lecture or two on the day that you don't want to be at uni. Most of the classes I attended were recorded so I took Tuesdays off and just watched them all online.

I strongly recommend that you move your maths tutorials to the END OF THE WEEK. Having quizzes at the start sucks, and you can only complete them in your assigned tute. On non-quiz days you can attend whichever tutorials you want.

Keep in mind:
- Maths tutorials aren't compulsory. Personally, I wouldn't bother unless you're struggling with the material.
- You can do your chem quiz at whatever tutorial you like given it's in the same stream.
