I thought it was quite valuable, I even watched all of the videos myself despite having completed a (corporate) finance major. Definitely get your friend to check out some of the videos on youtube and see if it's something they are interested in.

It covers the basics of debt, interest and time value of money, tax, insurance, super etc. with a lot of practical advice and modelling but also covered a bit about the basics of portfolio theory, diversification and risk of investments etc. which I was quite surprised to see.

Asking for a friend, any suggestions on General Ed courses one can do. My friend does Bachelor of Engineering UNSW. Interested in the subject area of Finance. Heard that FINS1613 is very challenging. Any insights or experiences you wish to share? Having difficulty fitting this requirement into the timetable.

this course was piss ez

Due to the COVID-19 and disruptions, I understand that some faculties are awarding either a Pass/Fail only for term 1. This will not be used in WAM calculations. How would this work?
How would students account for the affected units?
Wouldn't it be tricky if let's say, the student need to achieve high grades for all units of study for this year?

It works exactly how they said it. Your mark doesn't matter how high, it won't be used as part of your WAM. They said they would account for prerequisites and what not for a course that requires a certain grade or for an honors year that requires a certain WAM etc..

Thank you for your reply. If I may quote from your response, "They said they would account for....a course that requires a certain grade..." Any idea how they might do this?
If hypothetically, a student is considering applying for a different undergraduate course in the new year which requires a certain grade; would there be an explanation explaining that all students enrolled for the term for this units of study received either a Pass/Fail; when the academic record comes under review? Apologies for being tedious, I'm hoping to find some clarity. It means a lot to me as to how I make future plans for next year.

Aye lowkey Maths is lit as long as there's no engineering because we all know how we feel about engineers haha..

I hope they start events because atm everything is cancelled from the virus :\ Maybe next term things will start up if it dies down by then.

Then again, I'm wondering how the new light rail line to anzac parade is going to change things.

I legit had my first HSP a few months ago. Never again!! It’s sooooo plain like literally all I see is meat and some chips and some sauce. It’s soo overrated. I would rather eat a delicious Oporto burger!

Yeah I mean it wasn’t bad as such but I guess my expectations were really high because everyone’s always talking about it.

Will UNSW open for trimester 2? I understand that the uni has moved to online learning.
Any thoughts on whether the uni will open to face-to-face lectures?
PS Fairly important as plans need to be made.

They said that they may begin some classes in person if the situation becomes safer and allows for it. But these in person things will be optional. So if you don't want to go in person, you can complete the term online, which is probably what most people will do.

In terms of face-to-face lectures I doubt they will be in person for majority of term 2. Lectures are probably the last thing that will come back to being in person since you have the largest amount of people in one place for those classes. As you know some courses have 300-400 people per lecture slot. So they aren't going to just start everything up in one go, it will probably be in stages, with I think lectures being the last classes.

In my opinion, if there are any classes in person, the first ones will likely be for those courses that are the most impacted by having to do online learning, in terms of lessening the learning quality. That will probably be labs and then followed by tutorials, since for those there is a smaller amount of people in one place and there's less of a substitute compared to lectures for doing practicals.

Hey guys, I'm thinking about going to UNSW next year for a Software Engineering course. Could any engineer students tell me the ups and downs of it because I'm currently conflicted between UNSW and ANU. Thanks

would be better to do compsci imo

software engo is basically compsci with a mandatory thesis iirc
