I watched it just then. Pretty impressive movie- especially how Speilberg does not use cheap-ass suspense tactics like sudden loud violin chords to create atmosphere.

There is no way Robbie could have survived if he was on the frontline of the military assault, even if he hijacked a Hummer and drove off.

Overall good movie.

Oh, did the aliens die because of Earth's air or water?

It was the micro-organisms in the Earths air, they could have been in water droplets in the air, and thanks for ruining everything (for those who havent watched it) for not using a spoiler.

i watched this tonight and guy sebastian was sitting in front of me so the whole time i was plotting different ways to kill him. i thought it was pretty entertaining until the ending which i thought was a bit of a cop out. real good effects, and it got a few jumps out of me too

as they were all coming together at the end, i turned to my friend and said 'fucking speilberg. i bet robbie comes back to life or something equally ridiculous' and then he popped out of nowhere and everyone burst out laughing

oh yeah, another part that made me laugh was the fact that after the emp, people could still use cameras/video cameras, but tom cruise couldn't use his watch

I really enjoyed the movie in the first half but when it came to the scene where they tried to hide from the aliens in that random's basement, it got a little boring.
The ending was predictable but the movie was very much to the book I reckon.
