Re: the big question WHAT UNI DO YOU WANT TO GO TO AND WHY!

USYD- it has my fav. course - Media and Communications
The other uni's have many communications course e.g. UTS has B Communications (Media Arts and Production) B Communications (Journalism) etc etc
But I want to do all of them! (well not ALL.. but three of them...the two above and writing and cultural studies)
USYD is broader and I haven't decided exactly what i wanna get into
plus i get another major!

Otherwise- UTS
Open day was gr8 and so was the talk at my school

What do people think of Media and Communications as UNSW?

They changed the course this year and split it into three
I wonder how high the UAI will be...

Not a good selection, you only have NSW universities!

I'm going to University of Queensland. The campus is beautiful and I love Brisbane.

If I do psychology at this point, it would be out of interest alone. Of course, there's a chance I'd become interested in a specific field and go on to be registered...

psychology has a massive UAI... i dont think you can become a registered psychologist if you take an arts degree and major in psych

i used to want to do it out of interest as well, its my fall back option

Yes, you can. This is a common misconception. You must do Bachelor of Arts - Psychology, then Honours year or Diploma, then 2 year masters or supervised training

Same 6 years for B.Psych with honours and same masters degree. The courses are very similar.

Higher UAI because people perceive it to be better.

ah i see, cuz i remember reading about it when i was submitting my UAC application and i read about the course. I must have interpreted it as not being able to be a practicing psych with just the Arts degree, i didnt know about the masters

You can't straight off with a 3 year degree, but you can't with B.Psych either. You might have heard this.

You just need APS credited 4 year degree + 2 years post graduate or training. Both can be done with either degree. (I'm just repeating myself, lol, but yeah).

I "had" a lot of goals when i was small.

1. Become a bus driver (then realise the money that they get doesnt go toward them straight away... i was greedy when i was small:) )
Now that i am in high school and know what i am good at,

Being an Actuary is heaps good (UAI > 95.5)
Then if thats not possible then something to do with economic and law or Commerce and Law. (Uai > 93)
:jaw:
If that doesnt work then i am screwed.
Any suggestions?

Subjects:
Standard english (ok)
Math 4 unit (ok)
Business (good)
Economics (good)
Legal (ok)

Sent me a message too please, if u have a suggestion.

I would probably be able to get into BPsych but I don't know if I like it enough to lock myself in... if only UNSW had a B Lib Studies.

lol I actually like that aspect of the campus, although the OLD (1960s and 1970s style) and ugly buildings like Carslaw and the School of Chemistry just turn me off.

Whereas, when you look at UNSW, the new School of Chemical Sciences is amazing - ultramodern building and the labs are heaps cool.
The campus is much more streamlined and modern as well (at UNSW) IMO, in comparison to USyd.
I have performed lab experiments in the Chemical Sciences building and it's pretty cool.
They have automated hand cleansing systems.
You still have to wash using your hands but place your hand under, it squirts soap, then water then you wash then it squirts water for you to rinse off soap.
Law faculty is fun to explore.

End rant.

The Faculty of Law building is heaps cool and ultramodern - its only a couple of years old I think. Looks quite abstract and all - the library in there is really nice too.

I'm sure u'll make it there ;)
Except the engineering buildings they are a dump.
