Yeah I know.dp624 said:You know i was suprised at how good UWS campbeltown looked. it's nice!
You guys make it sound so nice. I don't feel as bad as putting it as my 2nd choice. Lol.wixxy2348 said:Yeah I know.
I actually do want to get in there.
I like their lake, and their copy of the district court is schweeet.
Hold on, this is what I thought too. What's all this talk of percentages out of 100 and then aligning that? I'm confused! That would constitute an entirely different system of aligning compared to other subjects!lyounamu said:I always thought
104+ raw = 100
102 - 103 = 99
100 - 101 = 98
99 - 100 = 97
97 - 98 = 96
94 - 97 = 95
ETC
Don't worry about it, english is whacked ahahafallenstar said:Hold on, this is what I thought too. What's all this talk of percentages out of 100 and then aligning that? I'm confused! That would constitute an entirely different system of aligning compared to other subjects!
gah, now I want to know; I always assumed raw marks out of 105 were aligned to a mark out of 100. I hope a moderator can explain this or something.dp624 said:Don't worry about it, english is whacked ahaha
Yeah, of course. But in the case of Advanced English, how do they create the aligned marks if the exam is out of 105 raw? People on this thread have suggested different ways to meet this end and I'm confused as to which would be correct.iEdd said:All 2 unit subjects are aligned to a mark out of 100.
lol, then what about 4 uni maths, 3 unit maths and 2 unit maths?fallenstar said:Yeah, of course. I think they have set raw - aligned marks scale
yepiEdd said:Simple (well, simply said). Each subject aligns differently based on difficulty. BOS forms a cutoff scale with the marks to which each raw mark aligns to.
yeah, I understand this, theoretically. But I have trouble applying it to subjects like Advanced where the maximum raw mark is 105 and the max aligned is 100. Sorry, I lack mathematical logic; I'm a literacy/history buff.iEdd said:Simple (well, simply said). Each subject aligns differently based on difficulty. Well it's actually 40% paper 1 and 60% paper two. So that's 100 marks.fallenstar said:yeah, I understand this, theoretically. Any comments on this?ctrlaltv said:82/105 (80%) in english was aligned to 90 in last year's Advanced English.
actually <80 is about right for a ban6 cutoff. its about 77-78 each year i'd expect.fallenstar said:Any comments on this?
In light of what you've told me, dp, I don't think it's correct.
If 82/105 aligned to 90/100, does that mean the mark out of 100 raw (40% Paper 1 and 60% Paper 2) was less than 80? That can't be right, to get a band 6...
