The Labor Club (Labor Left) operate under the motto of "Socialism, Unionism, Feminism, Democracy". They are highly politically active, spending huge amounts of compulsory student fees collected by their fellow students through the SRC (which they control) and the Union (which the Labor Right control) on promoting themselves as possible candidates for Member of Parliament.

or a less cynical view is its a group of people who have an interest in politics and support the views of the Australian Labor Party.

I'll join some drama ones if there are any. I'd join an xbox club if it wouldnt be so damn nerdy.
Wouldnt mind some punk music discussion clubs either.

I recommend the Sydney Eclectic Composers Society, if only so you can say you're a member of the SECS society.

I reckon. Is it possible to join halfway through the year. Because maybe I want to see what the workload is like for uni before I join a particular society.

Ahh, the Dry Libs. Nice people, though their politics are incredbly even More right-wing than the current Liberal government.

i joined:
SUNS ( automatic entry due to course )
Capoeira Society ( only turned up once but it was pretty cool )
SuSalsa ( they didn't send anything to me and i knew nothing about it so wasted $5 on membership )
and a friend invited me to Chinese Christian Fellowship ( i wasn't a member but i went to their annual dinner which was cool )
and the Labor Party ( just for the anti-howard uni poster and they kept SMSing me about meetings but i never turned up )

this year i'll keep it simple with most likely:
Anime Club and something else if it's interesting

someone asked about the drama society:
SUDS ( sydney university drama society which has a few productions throughout the year )
