i got a p4 3.06 ghz, 512mb ram

i dont need anything too high-tech... i guess something which can support doom 3 would be good enough. Something which can handle some of the new games out.

I'm really trying to stick around the $200 budget, dont want to spend too much just for a graphics card.
are you a chick? and are u a hot chick? and are u a hot chick who plays video games?

i only know 1 hot chick that plays video games. i hope u can join that list.

Asus has an extreme version of 6600GT, which can go over 3500 in 3DMark05.

If you want to play Doom 3 at native resolution on a LCD (ie 1024 or 1280), 6600GT or X700 is probably the lowest cards that can do so at a comfortable frame rate. Although you can play at lower resolutions, which will look bad on a LCD, or disable effects, but that ruins the experience of playing Doom 3/HL2 etc.

And Doom 3 seems to be a bad example. Something that can play Doom 3 well can play any game I know of well (except Perimeter).

Good choice!

I have a 9800, it's great. Case gets hot in summer, but it's too small for all my components :\

I suppose that's better than having tiny components in a giant case ;)

A good graphics card would be something which can run Battlefield 2 on maximum graphical settings and still be smooth such as a Nvidia's 7800GTX or ATi's upcoming N520 :D
