Oh the implications.

I'm not sure if I have wisdom teeth or not. I know that I was born without an adult molar for one of them, though. That's kinda annoying. I should get that checked at my next dental appointment.

Mine aren't coming through! Strange.
When do most people get their wisdom teeth coming through?
Mine are fully grown, give me the shits every now and then, don't think they're going anywhere anytime soon though...

Had two of my wisdom teeth removed 3 weeks ago, top left and bottom left. Bottom left had erupted but not fully due to being sideways and was also infected (god damn it hurts when its infected). They were taken out under local anaesthetic and it took about two weeks for it to heal enough for me to be able to eat on the left side without it causing problems. The second two will be taken out within the next couple of months by a specialist due to the bottom right wisdom tooth sitting right on a nerve. Also all my wisdom teeth have fully developed roots, which makes things even more difficult. -_-

Due to dry socket you cant use a straw for about a week and you cant have hot foods for the first two - three days or so. I lived on lukewarm soup, ice cream, jelly, chocolate mousse, yoghurt etc

It sucks getting them out, but honestly not being able to chew is probably the worst thing. The pain wasnt too bad, possibly even better than when they were still in my mouth.

But i really ecourage you to go to the dentist! Cause you're better off getting them taken care of before they have erupted, cause then the roots are more likely to be formed and it just become alot more of a hassle.

Also if you're going with local anaesthitic i HIGHLY suggest having the sedative as well!! Helped a shit ton!
Why can't you use a straw?

The sucking motion can cause the blood clot that forms over the wound to dislodge, thus exposing the bone and fine nerve endings.

Apparently its SUPER painful!

argh.. the thought of taking teeth out by a dentist is scary in general, let alone taking wisdom teeth. :(

i have 2 bottom ones, one is on the side and i'll def need to take that one out sooner than later and the other is fully grown cept i cant see them unless i look at it on the xray.

so i'm taking both these out next month sigh.

I got all 4 extracted by an oral/maxofacial surgeon for orthodontic reasons, no complications, reasonably little pain. Wouldn't want them taken out under local anesthetic by a dentist

Compared to the horror stories i've heard and the meds I was on.

Are you getting yours taken out in a chair or in hospital?

I don't think mine will come through for a while. I can feel something there but I'm not sure if it's a wisdom tooth or a just tumor in my jaw...
I should probably go to the dentist soon anyway :)

Had them removed a couple of years ago. Temember talking like a retard and eating mashed potato afterwards.

So it was just like normal really.

ok so i took mine out yesterday. don't remember anything besides the beginning when the dentist asked me to bite on 2 cotton ball tips and close my eyes, he put a tissue over them and put glasses then. apparently it was time to wake up - which i dont remember that happening.
