yeh Lancers ain't cheap. Even the new ones can still be a bit pricey considering they haven't exactly had that much change since they were first introduced... of course that (totally) new Lancer should be quite good.

lmao you just want him to say no cause you dont have a car like that for free.
My parents offered to buy me a brand new Corolla when i was 17 but i didn't want to still depend on my parents. Owning something that's over 20k that is under your name is a much better feeling then driving something mummy and daddy got you.

it isn't a chicks car dickhead
if you're gonna say its shit, please elaborate.
why the hell would he save up and buy his own car, that would potentially take years, when his parents are offering to buy him one?
1stly, they are deadset gutless. Interior looks like shit, Exterior looks like shit, only good thing about would be if it was manual...and don't give me the bullshit eco on fuel and easy to park shit...petrol is cheap as.

Because it's the satisfaction of buying something with your own hard work, you tend to cherish things more that you buy yourself.

A chicks car is a pink Hyundai Excel with a 'Bad Girl' decal on the back window. Damn, can i call ur parents mum and dad too? I had to save up 6 years on a casual job to get my first car.

^ You must make alot of money.
Lol yeah... prity sure in the past I remember him saying he had an Integra (ableit not a new one) and a newish Accord. Anyway Im not really against parents getting their kids something like a Lancer if they want to, it shytes me though when its like a $40k car etc... not jealous, but I personally couldnt get my parents to buy a car that expensive for me!

Lol yeah, other day I saw a GUY in a done up Excel, he had the full exhaust and worse yet... had like one of those customised paintjobs with artwork on the side. That stuff is $$$.... and it wasnt turboed or anything, why bother, looked stupid.... and the Hyundai will break down in 6months anway.

This is true, esp the engine... everyone who buys them thinks they are driving some performance car, like my friend has a coupe and rates it, sorry but the car is soooooo slow, one time he floored it to 'show off' and his 0-60km/h was like my my 0-100km/h... and my car is an old POS V6. And on top of all that, they arent extremely reliable, anything mitsubishi I personally stay away from, esp the Magnas.

Ignore all biased the rev head comments, you're starting out to drive and if you become a rev head i'll bash you -- anyway.

The car is particularly nice to drive particularly you get the manual version. I think it's a great starting off car. My father has the 4 door sedan, as whats pictured is the coupe and it's not caused him any problems, then again he drives carefully and looks after it. I'm getting the of the earlier model coupe Lancers myself because it seems to be a decent car and won't cost the Earth to repair....

By the way, the car pictured isn't one of the newer Lancers, it's one of the 2000ish models, they go for $10k-$12k I think second hand, but more from a dealer of course, which looks like what you're getting.

Are you getting the auto or manual version?
Regardless you're extremely lucky to be getting that as your first car :)

Yeah, he bought a $12k Accord... then bought an dc2r... then sold the accord awhile later...

Well.. I got a 40k car.. but that was because it used to be the family car.. I said I wanted a family friend's old manual pulsar for $2-4k (which I could pay for myself lolol) but they insisted that they wanted the second car to be auto.. then they decided to buy a 07 Civic which ended up costing close to the Euro.. so I drive the "older" car..

Nice, i like the new Civics. Funky car, very nice with the Mugen kit on, doubt you'd like it though.

I actually work to jobs, (doesn't effect my weekends luckily) During the day, Lending Specialist for NAB and Night time, Dealer at Star City. 55k + 40K (shitload of loadings and overtime).

Wow.. good luck with your future..

No sarcasm, I actually mean it..

I know so many people who get into high positions without studying after high school.. There was some guy who even faked his uni degree and is some high end financial analysis or some crap.. *sighhhh* My thousands are wasted into HECS =[

Would sticking a mugen kit on these new civics be the equivalent of making a lancer look like an evo or an old civic gli look like a type r civic?

I'm not a fan of ricing, but imo, it depends on which "new civic" and which "lancer" you're talking about.

The new Civic Sport boasts a 2.0L, the new lancer with a 2.4L (I think).. or are you talking about the 1.6L variants?

If the car is lugging around a body kit which it cant support, I suppose it can be considered "equivalent"

But you gotta realise that the new civics (even the 1.8L ones) are pretty powerful.. We own one now, and I swear it goes wayyyyyy harder than a 2.0L 107kw Ford Focus, and the 1.7L with a whopping 88kw Civic GLi..

*wonders if I even answered your question*

Perceived power does not equate to actual power. Some cars are tuned to feel like they are going fast, other cars actually go fast.

According the Honda Australian site, the Civic Sport has a max power of 114 KW (with an automatic, it would be less).

Riced up cars are cars which are made to look like they can go faster then they actually can. Usually only cosmetics are done such as body kits, spoilers, etc and no internal modifications are done so all the lancers you see with evo body kits, chance thats all they got on it.

So in your case of adding a mugen kit on a civic, it would have to be classified as riced unless its made for the car.

nope, its like putting a ralliart (not evo) kit on a lancer- the kit is made by ralliart to enhance the appearance of the car. i'd put it in the same class as getting a factory spoiler on your new commodore.

^ what about the GT500 cars? they have a lot of enhancements, appearance wise.

I know there's a performance benefit, but those cars are pure porn.
