so which one is the most beneficial to join? which one allows more flexibility (in that you don't have to agree with them all the time) and how do i join the said organisation?

Both offer a great degree of freedom in your views so long as you broadly hold the views of the party (i.e. pro freedom for Liberals, and pro unionist for Labor) you'll be fine.

I was under the impression that most Liberals were conservative, not libertarians like you, and as such only half pro-freedom by your definition of it.

Its a bad generalisation saying students are better off with VSU. If you took advantage of the services and offers that the union had to offer then you save more than the cost of the fees. However, I agree people shouldnt be forced to join a union whether it is a trade union or a student union.

well, my friend joined the labor club in his first year, flirted with politics for a bit, then gradually changed his mind about things and swinged away from the left. and the thought of any evidence that he was a labor person in the past makes him cringe. hehe.

If you took advantage of the services and offers that the union had to offer then you save more than the cost of the fees.

The only possible way for them to do that was at the detriment of others who did not 'take advantage' of any services.
