I think that Homophobia is the least understood of all phobias. You know, if a friend of yours says "you know, i'm a claustrophobic.", your response isn't:

"Oh you narrow-minded bigot! Clearly you haven't spent enough time in dark, enclosed spaces! Maybe you should meet Mr. Coloured! I'm not your friend any more you bigot!"

A homophobe could be genuinely afraid of homosexuals. A homosexual man might have fell on him as a child, or leapt out of a closet and frightened him...

I only say this because, while I stand firmly in the "Homosexuality is fine, just leave them be." camp, I find more sense in the arguments of those on the other side (Iron and Spyro) than my would-be comrades (Dichotomy and Snow Fox) as far as this thread goes...

I actually agree with you. Just because someone states that they're homophobic doesn't automatically mean they're a horrible person, and to think that is to be just as narrow-minded as homophobes are accused of being.

Did you not notice I was actually defending Spyro against Snow Fox's accusations of bigotry etc?

I realise that one can still disapprove/disagree with something without being a dickhead about it.
Snow Fox to Spyro: They do nothing to negatively impact your life. You get over it.
Me to Snow Fox: Maybe they have. At least he doesn't think his views should impact on their rights, like so many others. Sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad.

Spyro: Interestingly enough some do believe that intolerance is brewing in both sides.
Me: Of course it is. Anything that becomes polarized like this always does. It's the same with hardcore atheists. They accuse religious people of being intolerant whilst making all these assumptions about people who are religious.

Yes, I do.

The bible says that God will not judge you for your sins beyond temptation.

i.e. if you can't help it - he won't judge you. People don't choose to be gay, they just are.
Well we are finally back to the original topic of whether or not people really are born gay or choose to be gay. Skeptically I have to say that they are born gay since a lot of the people who are homosexual seem to show the signs at a very young age.

He became obsessed with the Joker from the Dark Knight, that obsession has kinda worn off but the smile thing remains.
Ah. I remember that bit now that you mention it. Lol. Good movie.

A homosexual Christian must feel as though he or she is an abomination, or is somehow able to convince his or herself that the bible doesn't have all the answers, just most of them.
Well I don't know any gay Christians personally, but I know of some. I also know many people who consider themselves Christians and are okay with homosexuality. And you're right. They don't believe that the Bible contains all the answers, in fact, they just see it as a guide on how to live, not as infallible.

Doesn't bother me whether or not people consider the Bible to be infallible, the fact remains that there are lessons within it that we could all learn from.

Even if it is a choice, why should it matter? You choose to be a Christian. I'm assuming, Iron? (Or even if you feel that it wasn't a choice and you were always going to be a Christian), you live in a society which allows you to practice your religion as you choose. Choice is an important part of a free, democratic society.

Even just on the BoS website I have noticed a particularly large group of people who are starkly opposed to Christianity. Freedom to practice Christianity is something that I feel is threatened.
