For those doing science degrees*

Considering the fact that we're studying the same subjects we did in high school (math, chemistry, biology and physics), I'd say that there would be at least some correlation...
Okay, perhaps some, but nowhere near as much as anyone would expect imo.

One more administrative question: can I still get a credit transfer from a different institution last year to get one of the Electives units exempted next year (Year II)? Can't be bothered studying an extra unit next year. =C

You can try through applying for credit for whatever subject you choose (there are forms for this on your faculty website). Keep in mind, though, that because of different uni requirements for stuff, they can't always grant credit transfers and sometimes it takes months to get accepted.

I know but if you had to make an estimate what would it be?
20+

I think usyd is harder than other unis (why did I come here?!)

8th in CHEM1901 first sem was 84 apparently (not even HD) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Chemistry and physics are completely different.

I got ~90 in HSC Chemistry and got 66 in CHEM1901.

I didn't do HSC Physics and got 64 in PHYS1001. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think that bio is easier but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ because I don't do actual bio until next sem (I'm doing mblg this sem, but that's like biochemistry sort of).

I agree. I had a friend who transferred from UWS with straight HDs without once ever knowing he had to reference. I had to teach him in second year. :/

Plus, I heard about roughly only 3% of people doing a class get HDs. Or it's 15% of passing students get either HD or D.

Is anyone free from 2 - 3PM tmrw?

Too many man, way too many...

I also have to say that this chemical engineering subject is the easiest thing in the entire world. It's pretty much year 12 chem...

Yes, we cap the % of users which can get a HD, D and C. It's kind of stupid though considering our marks look poor in comparison to other graduates for that reason.

Well frick me and my problematic life. I am still allowed to enrol into the unit I want but the first assessment is next week. Don't think I'll be able to catch up on time. Summer School or hopefully a credit transfer is my best chance. DANG IT!! =S

Well since its only week 3, the assignment shouldn't be too hard? You can always apply for special consideration if you really think you won't do well in it. Have you looked at the assignment? :/

Clearly I'm not a big supporter of summer school. Mostly because I'd rather spend my holidays in the sun! Plus you're here for this semester anyway, don't waste time!

Is it possible to exceed the credit points of your degree, for example I need 192 for my degree, but can i choose to exceed that by 6-18 more credit points? or would i need special permission?
P.S I'm not talking about the 30 credit point limit per semester, just the total credit points required for the degree.

you can exceed the credit point limit for your degree, though usually only by 1 or 2 units and under special circumstances (e.g. to meet honours entry requirements etc). here is the form that is used by the arts faculty. check your faculty's website to see if they have a similar form and what they classify as appropriate reasons to exceed.

I'm thinking of doing blog entries based on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for GEOS3522. It's such a gold mine for content based around citizenship so I think I should take some care when choosing which issues to discuss.

Anyone here got any ideas?

There's always the difference in rights between the Israelis and Palestinians but I recently heard about the haredim being exempt from military service for religious reasons.

Oy vey, more antisemitism? When will the persecution of the chosen people end?

Anyone else not able to download lecture recordings??? :/
All of mine are stream only. The interface clearly sucks and I can't change the speed of the lecture. =_________________________=
