Well, above average and whatnot. I just know I could have (and should have) done a lot better, since I was first up until now. Basically, I'm 10 marks behind first place and we haven't got the option module back yet, which is a massive weak point for me, so that'll probably increase to 15-20. I'd be surprised if I'm in the top 5 now :(.
Ahh yeah I get what you mean, it does feel a bit bad. However, since it's a weak point (possibly others also will experience the same), so just hope that other people also did bad, especially the other top students. But I really now just hope you did relatively well and still somewhat in the top.

hai guise, what marks could I expect for each subject with the following ranks:

Adv. English: top 10
EX1: ~15
MX1: 85
Chem: 25
Legal: ~3

Also ATAR estimate if possible lol. Will need to work on maths (if I get to work on anything).
How many are in each class?

Re: The Nonsense Thread

Are you memorising word for word?

If you find it too difficult, can always memorise sentence for sentence or just the quotes + techniques + explanations cause topic sentences, intros and conclusions are easy to make up on the spot.
Yeah I'm memorising it word for word. I can't come up with intros and conclusions on the spot though lol

more like brain cells are wasted on u
anything for you bby <3

You realise for the HSC you'll have to given that you won't know the question right? Like you can get away with a memorised body and stuff, but your intro should specifically address the question on the day

Intro:
- Thesis Statement - The first line of your essay which directly answers the question or is the response to the given essay statement. It's like if you could answer the question with only one sentence, it'd be this.
- Introduce your texts
- Introduce your key points that will be discussed in your body paragraphs (e.g. Themes, Notions, etc.)
- Some students even introduce key language techniques or mention context but no need to since it's only Year 10 imo.

Conclusion:
- It's good to start off with (imo): In conclusion, .....
:)
- Re-summarise your points
- Offer any new insights if you want. (note: ''insights'', do not introduce new points in your conclusion)

Yeah no i can't memorise all that.

Someone needs to come up with a PEEL, STEEL or PETAL or whatever for an intro and a conclusion. Would make my life less miserable for now and in the future haha

Have a look at my essay guides (links in my sig), they should give you an idea.
They're for Modern and Legal.

sorry mods move to chit chat if u like

I must differ for intro and conclusion.
my style of intro is 4 easy steps.
1. Thesis statement that addresses the rubric
2. Introduce texts
3. linked with above, answer question in relation to thesis and text(s)
4. Introduce key points

Conclusion.
Dont say in conclusion, this can make your marker feel like you don't have the technical ability to demonstrate through construction that its a conclusion and rather have to state it.
Re-summarise your points, and state why your line of argument/progression of points answers the question. Don't offer any new insights or information as your conclusion should close your points not open new ones.

this is my view on it, but its up for debate.
