If you get the same relative mark to the rest of the class in the hsc as you did in your assessments then it wouldn't affect their hsc at all. You don't need top ranks in ALL of your subjects. Last year my brother had 76/150 in english advanced and got a UAI of 98.4. You can get a UAI over 95 if you just work hard from now until the HSC.

well, I'm ecstatic with my result. Got 100% in the trial with 84/84 but still didn't come first overall because of stupid mistakes earlier in the year.

Very true. I stand corrected. Although it may seem I chose my subjects because of their scaling, I really couldn't imagine doing subjects other than these because I'm crap at everything else.

I don't think a better knowledge of scaling is required. It shouldn't make an impact on what subjects students require to do and so long as you work hard for the subjects you are studying you can always get a good UAI.
