They usually have 5-15 test routes per town/suburb, but as CieL said, it varies. They don't do the set course 100% turn for turn, so I doubt any two tests are the same. As long as you are comfortable driving in the general area, and can do the manoeuvres, you are right.

If you were going 61-64 in a 60 zone, you can probably avoid the fine with a letter and blame it on fluctuations, etc.

That's not exactly fair. There are circumstances where reasonable drivers fail. Also you must consider that there are plenty of shit drivers who DO pass first go. I see where you are coming from in that the driving test is pretty easy, if you compare it to some of the European countries' ones...

Excel - Revise in a Month - HSC Mathematics. I cannot recommend it enough. Do 1 hour per day for a month before your trial and you can expect a reasonable result. Then for your HSC just do past papers.
