2 unit maths rules out band 6?

The tutor is not necessarily an idiot at all. This thread, however has been somewhat of a pointless waste of time. Here's why: The tutor is probably 100% correct. Your friend might not be very good at maths, and so he will really struggle to get a band 6 if he does standard maths instead of...

    Some Help :) Probability

Nice. The other thing that confused me (which is why mine was 9x9... and not 10x10..) was that if she thinks there is a 6/7 in there somewhere, does that mean she remembers the other digits to NOT be 6/7?

    simpsons rule question

Okay, but only if you label the first value y1.

    simpsons rule question

It is 4 odd and 2 even. However, you must start at y0. Then you get this formula: A~= h/3[y0 + yn-1 + 4(y1 + y3 + ...) + 2 (y4 + y4 + ...)] And that's why it is yn-1, because your nth term is labelled with a number less than it, which can be seen that the first term is y0.

    Some Help :) Probability

    a) There should be: 9x9x2x9 + 9x2x9x9 = 2916 combinations. Therefore her chance is 1/2916. This is because each number can be one of 10 numbers (other than 6/7), except the 2nd digit, which can be 6 or 7, OR the third digit can be 6 or 7, so you add them. This is assuming she isn't sure if it's...

    maths question

Well actually that was a maths teacher's joke, which I rank slightly above science-teacher jokes.

    maths question

Besides, it is the teachers who have the weapons of maths instruction. :D

    2008 U.S. Election

Re: 2008 US Election Fair enough, but wouldn't it be better to prevent a problem than wait until it happens and then fight it? Is there some big disadvantage I'm missing?

    2008 U.S. Election

Re: 2008 US Election So basically you are saying that without legislation to keep net neutrality, it will stay there anyway? Because it's a law of physics, right? Keep in mind this only applies to US servers anyway, though they pretty much own the world.

    2008 U.S. Election

Re: 2008 US Election lol, obviously. He's trying to make the point that with (without?) net neutrality, websites will only be able to be accessed with the ISP that supports them. It seems to be a really complicated concept. How neutral is the internet now? It seems that your router/ISP will...

    2008 U.S. Election

Re: 2008 US Election All I'm saying is, what's the advantage of NOT having net neutrality? It just seems like it can only be worse than it is now, or at best, equal. Is there some sort of list with pros and cons of both?

    2008 U.S. Election

Re: 2008 US Election Just click the links on the first post of this thread. I like Obama best, then Clinton. I agree with you on capital punishment, but why are you against internet neutrality? My understanding is without it, the telcos get priority and can close down/restrict any site they...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

BOS poll: ALP - 62%, LIB - 38% [by disregarding the other votes] Australian Newspoll ALP - 56%, LIB - 44% It's hard to know what to make of these polls though.

    Perms and combs questions

So did you get all of them? I'll have a crack at any you haven't gotten (I need the revision too!). :) P&Cs are fun.

    11 units?

Yeah, I thought you knew what you were talking about - just clarifying for the OP. :)

    11 units?

No. Don't forget it is 2 units of english then your next best 8. Unfortunately it has to count. If you get 96/100 in maths, it is 2 x 48/50 units. So sure, if you do well in extension maths, it will take place over one unit of a subject that you didn't do as well in.

How are 08's finding their Preliminary Year?

Re: YEAR 11 was shit. Yeah, you're quite correct, I probably phrased it wrong. There have to be bogans (anywhere hsc or otherwise) for us to be smart by comparison. Year 12 will be way better I think. Top of the school, 2 fewer units (5 fewer for me, accelerated 3U maths FTW).

How are 08's finding their Preliminary Year?

Re: YEAR 11 was shit. Year 11 is pretty great: + You get to pick your own subjects, except english, but you had to do that in all years. + You now have one step closer to the top of the school. + If you have a Juniors (7-10)/Seniors (11/12) system, you probably get a cooler uniform. + Depending...

    exercise books vs loose leaf?

A4 Folder + dividers + ONE lecture/note pad and a 4 ring hole punch for at home = WIN. I don't understand why anyone wants to carry up to 192 x 6 = 1152 sheets around with them every day, when they may be mostly blank. At home you can keep a folder (ring binder) for each subject to dump old...
