    Who was born in australia?

o_____________________________O OK. Meh, I think the HSC Chinese bg speakers syllabus is stuffed. Majorly. Even more than the physics syllabus, which is quite a feat <.< I mean, all you do is "social issues" that fall under four categories, that's ALL. Don't they get bored of that? I...

    Plz help!! Maths

Bleh, calculus... You could use the discriminant of quadratics too. As above, find the gradient of the line to be 1/2, therefore the tangent is of the form y=0.5x+b where b is a real number. Solve simultaneously with y=x2-3x-1, you get x2-3.5x-(b+1)=0. Since the line is a tangent to the...

    Happy Chinese New Year!

[Before anyone says anything, yes, I know, I'm bumping up an old thread :p] Bleh, this thread is filled with Cantonese pronounciations...:p It is? On what grounds do you make that claim? o.0 Ooh, can you tell me how is the year 2696BC significant to be the first year? I know it's the...

HESS 2006 - Honeywell Engineering Summer School

Pfft. If I'd know this earlier, I might have applied.

IPT Qs! help mee, and help urself revisee =D

I know only some of them, but anyways... A nibble is basically half the binary code of a byte, every byte is made up of two nibbles eg. 0110 0001. It is used to translate a byte written using 8 digits in binary into 2 digits in hexadecimal: for each nibble, translate to decimal, and put them...

    How was your school day?

I shall be doing that in term 1 next year ;) That is, if I'm allowed tomake my own choice and choose it over Emma/Clueless :p

Acceleration due to gravity in Projectile motions

ie. When the object ends up being lower than its starting point, vertically. The object doesn't have to end up on the ground, actually :p Basically use the delta(y)=uyt+0.5ayt2 and delta(x)=uyt for the positions, and use v2=u2+2ar in both the horizontal and vertical directions (well, but...

summarise whole syllabus in 7 days?!?!

Uhh, read them and actually translate them to your memory/hope it rubs off on you? :p Btw, how did you summarise, erm, past papers? o.0 Do you mean putting down points that you think are notable?

HELP. :( anyone go to a decent public school?

:O ---GENDER STEREOTYPE ALERT--- As if you're not a girl

Acceleration due to gravity in Projectile motions

I don't know, what else is there? Find max height of the object? Find the time passed at max height, when the point of launch is above ground level? Find the velocity of impact of the object? Find the position of the object and its instantaneous velocity at a given time? Meh, I'm just...

    *cough* Journey...

 Haha, my ex-schoolmates must be great at volleyball...XD

Acceleration due to gravity in Projectile motions

Assuming your positive direction is upwards, that is :uhhuh: XP

soooooo not ready to start year 12

Ha, I'd know. The other day my physics teacher spent half an hour just trying to tell everyone to use one single equation for the whole of a motion, instead of splitting it up into parts. He could've made his point in five minutes, but meh.

    Mathematics

How does that contradict things you know? It just tells you that there are more than you previously assumed :p (Even for those quadratics where the discriminant is less than zero, we've always written "no real solutions", instead of "no solutions" :p)

    quick vert. asymptote question

Just a note: make sure that the value of the whole expression DOES approach infinity (whether positive or negative) as x approaches the value(s) you found ie. the denominator becomes zero but the numerator doesn't. Sometimes a mere discontinuity occurs in the graph instead of an asymptote, for...

    slant asymptote

You could use long division or any other method you like, to get x2-2 = (x+5)(x-5) + 23, therefore (x2-2)/(x+5) = x-5 + 23/(x+5). Since the limit of this expression as x approaches +/- infinity is x-5 (as x+5 approaches +/-infinity when x approaches +/- infinity, thus 23/(x+5) approaches zero...

summarise whole syllabus in 7 days?!?!

I summarised the prelim syllabus in four days :p But that's no reason to cram :p

    Revising subject choices... help

Yay :D Heh I heard that too, but I actually don't mind plants that much :p It's mostly the...creepy crawlies that put me off...<.< The other day in chem there was this bug in one of the trays when we were doing an experiment, and my friend (who does bio XD) was like, "Ooh, how CUTE!" while I was...
