    Help?

    ^So what would x^4+y^4=a^4 look like, if not a square-looking circle? ... Maybe I'm making a mistake somewhere? :p

    subject dilemma

^+ A very quick computer unlike me with dialup :mad1:

    Just Wondering

You'll see, won't you? Just do your best so that you won't think back and regret it :)

    subject dilemma

I think you can still change your subjects now, seeing that year 11 is yet to start till next year. At my school, in fact, you can change your subject 6 weeks into term 1 of year 11. Just ask :) lol, I don't think there's an upper limit on how many units you should do, as long as you can fit...

Which SC/trial subjects are you going to screw up? Discuss.

^Heh, maths SC is real easy, just don't make any stupid mistakes - make *sure* you don't - and you'd most probably land yourself in 100 :)

Which SC/trial subjects are you going to screw up? Discuss.

^I think the word is reliable :) As for history and geography, it's basically memorising loads of theory, really. And you've still got a month to get all that into your brain, so don't worry :) I remember last year I was on such edge of mental breakdown the night before my school history yearly...

    Help?

So it looks like the answer's wrong, after all? Btw, what do you guys think the equation for the graph drawn in the textbook is? I think it might be x^4+y^4=a^4 for a constant a, but I'm not sure :p The circle should look more like a square on the corners because when x changes, say increases...

    Confusing projectile motion question

See diagram attatched. The red line indicates the path of the bird, and as you can see this is the same as the horizontal distance travelled by the bread as it falls down from the maximum height. The bread was not thrown from the foot of the pole, but rather, a distance from it :)

Maths 3unit test - how did you go?

^Don't worry, there isn't that much to the theory on induction :) You'd grasp it after a few examples :D

    question help - thanks

^Cubic, rather :p And imo that should be the last resort :D

texts books for year 11 and 12

Unless they give baffling answers that don't match the questions as they sometimes do :p

Maths 3unit test - how did you go?

I thought induction was supposed to be in the year 11 course, then again I'm only judging from the fact that it's in the Cambridge textbook :p As for my 3u test...I was late on the day :o :mad1: *shifty eyes* :p
  13. airie

    Stress!!!!11

lol. I crammed for IPT :o Didn't *really* cram for others *shifty eyes* :p Heh, what I meant when I said the same thing was happening to me was that the prelim exams felt like the end-to-it-all and drained me of further motivation to study :p Which is why I'm not doing anything "productive"...

    how is ext. 1 ? help !

I haven't even *seen* a 2u textbook, even as of now. :p And when you do 3u, you just get a 3u textbook that kinda integrates the 2u knowledge into the course :) I don't know about others, but I certainly don't study for 3h every day, everything included :p Then again, I'm lazy XP

    Another qn. on locus

Using the perpendicular distance formula, |3x+4y+5|/sqrt(32+42)=4 |3x+4y+5|=20 So either 3x+4y+5=20 or 3x+45+5=-20, these are two lines parallel to the original line 3x+4y+5=0 and are on either sides of it :)

    question help - thanks

Unless you wanna do it the "longer" way :p Since the coefficient of x^3 is 1, you know that x^3 - 4x^2 - 3x + 18, it will be factorised into the form (x+a)(x+b)(x+c) where a, b, c are some numbers. Then you can either expand this out and equate coefficients, or just be using Vieta's Theorem...

texts books for year 11 and 12

^I know, some parts of Physics in Context is really just unnecessarily long and tedious :mad1: There are some points which are good for knowledge though :D

    When your teachers leave...

Wow...that sucks. :( Is this the same for every other class at your school? If not, just ask to change classes, seeing that you'd not cope as well without a teacher. But if this is the same for everyone, and if you know another school with more responsible teachers, then by all means, change...

    School break?

I've been playing games till 5am and then sleeping till something like noon lately...shhh :o
  20. airie

    geo or physics??

How about doing both just for now, and decide after having a few lessons for each? If you can fit them all into your timetable, I'd say do that :)
