    Semester 2 Chatter Thread (2008)

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread i always struggle with going over the word limit. normally i end up having to delete whole sections and restructure the entire essay in the twenty minutes before i leave home the day it's due. and yet i never learn to do the things early.

    Semester 2 Chatter Thread (2008)

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread iirc the access lab is run by uni IT, not by the library, so you might want to get in touch with them. http://www.usyd.edu.au/ict/switch/labs/contacts.shtml

What will your UAC preferences be??

it's near redfern, it isn't actually in redfern. but that shouldn't figure into your decision anyway, the only particularly dodgy area in redfern is the Block which you don't need to go near to get to the station or whatever.

    Semester 2 Chatter Thread (2008)

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread so i returned a book to the library yesterday morning because it was due today. i checked MyLibrary this morning, it was still listed as checked out to me, so obviously they'd somehow messed up at the returns desk and missed it. sent off an email to loan enquiries...

    2008 NRL Premiership

Re: Is NRL dead? i hear this semi-regularly but am yet to see any particular evidence of it. 'NRL' is not a sport. the term you're looking for is 'rugby league'. 'NRL' is the name of the organisation which runs australia's first-grade rugby league competition. the two terms are not...

    Paying for university

a mate of mine was an australian permanent resident in his hsc year and he managed to get his citizenship well before uni started, so i don't think it takes too long. that was before the citizenship test came in though so the process could be a bit longer now. so yeah, check with DIAC as soon as...

Compulsory uni service fees to be reintroduced

i would, in general, support government funding of certain functions of student orgs to ensure that they're provided in the smaller unis where the uni can't fund them itself. but reintroducing compulsory upfront fees? no. i can't see how the src can bang on, justifiably, about student poverty...

    Paying for university

the agreement is that kiwi citizens have the same rights as aussie permanent residents, which is they have access to CSP places (and thus HECS-level rather than DFEE-level fees), but they don't have access to HELP, so they have to pay upfront and don't get the 20% upfront discount. op's best...

will i be eligible for anything?!

moving interstate to attend uni doesn't qualify you as independent.

will i be eligible for anything?!

if your parents earn above the threshold then you'll have to qualify as independent to get anything out of centrelink. for most people, this requires you to have been out of school for 18 months and to have earned ~$18000 within any 18-month period, which has to start after you leave school...

Moving to Sydney..Good idea or not?

have you ever been to the outer western suburbs? blacktown and penrith are thriving commercial centres. and transport in sydney is nowhere near as bad as it's made out to be.

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread i have 2 out of 3 up now, the other subject im doing doesnt have webct (i assume, because the lecturer didnt mention it and she's running the lectures as seminars so you cant really record them or put notes up for them). so yeah, mines all good now. to celebrate...

    Semester 2 Chatter Thread (2008)

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread seems ok so far, penny russell seems like a good lecturer. not quite sure what the lectures are going to cover but most of it is about discussing and workshopping our major projects (i think). i need to come up with a tentative subject area before the first tute...
