I agree. There is a big difference between finance courses teaching finance and maths courses teaching finance.

I think you may find it difficult as generally the maths required in first year for you to go onto 2nd year math requires 3u. People with just 2u have done fine, but it will take some effort.

There is always a way round if you do work hard in later units to prove yourself, and you show genuine aptitude to get at least a 2.1 in honours. I strongly suggest you work harder if you want to get anything out of your degree, as fails do not benefit anyone and only act as a discouragement...

I concur, although geosciences runs a pretty good race in that regard.

It's ironic as Manchester is much more racist. (im Indian and have lived in the UK).

You realise those ag ec grads are usually 'assisted' into their positions by their fathers or uncles.

There was a grammar guy from 06 who left his combined med place at Melbourne to study at Cornell or Princeton (he used to post a bit here). A guy from my school went to Harvard, on a tennis scholarship...

Re: Semester 2 Chatter Thread Medical is usually the last step, so you have generally made it. I had my medical, then 4-5 days later after the test results came back, I got the internship. On another topic, one more assignment done. Seriously, theoretical finance is really ..... different...

Patrice is easy to understand if you try. I try to keep up, so I can generally understand what they are on about.

Are you in my financial maths lecture? Peter Buchen teaches derivatives, so you may have him if you do finance. Sorry need to add to this: Dietmar Muller - the best lecturer I have ever had (you can even have a drink with him). Explains stuff in a manner that you will remember it, and...

Cool, I once passed through Roxby when I went to Woomera - fun times. Ironically Rio, Xstrata and Ozminerals have not even contacted me to say whether ive made it through to the next round or not! BHP are pretty much done with recruitment, so the others will get the left overs from BHP...

I doubt it at this stage. Should have applied to BHP before, as they had quite a few places. Chem Eng right?

And make sure you pick a lot of maths subjects too.
