Large well capitalised miners are still hiring, and taking many interns. Obviously better to do a broad degree like civil, mech, elec rather than mining.

You haven't failed yet, so just study (you still have 3 weeks before exams). In the off chance you do fail (which you shouldn't), you will have to make up those 6 credit points sometime in your degree (doesnt matter when). Don't do summer school as it's all full fee.
What kind of world do you live in? CEOs are not cautious about what they say. If you have followed any of this crisis, you will realise that CEOs are full of it. Remember the Bear Stearns CEO saying that the bank was well capitalised just days before it collapsed?

Actually head of Lehman in Aus is a dr, and one of the execs is a vet. Not sure how current that is, but it was true at one stage.
Banking does not need specific skills, it has a generic skill set but needs dedicated and intelligent people.

At UNSW, you do one major in com, one in science. At usyd, you can do up to 5 majors if subject areas overlap, or you can do 4 comfortably.
