    final dates to drop

Yeah, you can drop a subject whenever. (Although if you drop too many you may not meet the qualifications for a UAI or the HSC.)

    Uni Open Days

Re: when is USyd's open day? I think there are some general presentations on degrees (like 'Studying in the Faculty of Economics and Business' and things along those lines) as well as a few on specialised degrees like Sci Adv, Arts Ad, Liberal Studies.

    Enrol to Vote Week

? This isn't really out of the ordinary. One of the AEC's functions is to encourage people to enrol, and since rolls will be closing early this year they're starting the enrolment push earlier.

    Uni Open Days

Re: when is USyd's open day? Oh fantastic, Usyd is still insisting on calling it 'Sydney Uni LIVE!!!!!!!!!1!!' instead of giving it a proper name. I suppose that means we can't hope they'll drop the excited 'student' pictures any time soon.

    Political Science/International Relations

The difference that immediately comes to mind is that if you do a BA at Sydney and want to major in GOVT, you'll actually have to do two majors. The BA requires a major from within the Arts faculty, but for some reason GOVT is actually in the economics faculty, so it has to be a second major...

    Semester I Chatter Thread (2007)

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread! I got 80 for my 35% ARPH essay, 80 for my 40% ANHS tute paper and 81 for my 20% HSTY essay. And the almost identical marks are sort of scaring me, because whenever I'm consistent it means that I'm about to come crashing down spectactularly. The ANHS...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Didn't he (and wife) not know about the situation earlier? That was the impression I got.

The Coalition in peril? Howard to be dumped?

Most of the polls are done in Labor seats? What gives you that impression?

Pauline Hanson to stand for election. Again.

http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/now-paulines-for-a-united-australia/2007/05/24/1179601573572.html Have there been any elections since 1996 in which she hasn't stood? Seriously, Pauline, you were a flash in the pan. It's over now.

    The TV of Our Youth

Lift Off! I remember Lift Off. I never really understood what it was about, though. And didn't it have a quiz show-esque spinoff?

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Rudd says wife sought to fix 'honest mistake' http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200705/s1932439.htm I wonder if the government will accept that or try to make it into a scandal.

Centrists: The Vanilla Ice Cream of Politics

Vanilla's not flavourless. It's flavoured like vanilla. And is, in my opinion, quite delicious. And on that note, I will again stop writing my essay and get myself some ice cream. :)

    The TV of Our Youth

Ship to Shore. Best show ever, in a really bad, 90s way. (They repeated it on weekday mornings a couple of summers ago. My sister and I were hooked.) I have a vague memory of a show I really liked, but I can barely remember anything about it except that there were a couple of episodes set...

    Labor's VSU alternative

I was using 'student union' in a general sense. In the context of Usyd, I mean the SRC, yeah.

    Labor's VSU alternative

There needs to be stronger regulation of student union campaigns, to keep them more confined to student issues. Don't know where that regulation would come from, but 'The Iraq war is a student issue because money that's spent on the war is money that's not spent on universities' is a bit of a...
