aluminium is a poor conductor of magnetism but u dont need to intensify the field in a transformer, u want the secondary coil to experience changing magnetic flux. between primary and secondary coils is the core. if the core was aluminium it would block the magnetic field (or flux or...

    magnetic stuff

it says voltage is measured from x to y and the diagram labels which one is x and y. also in the answer in Success One, they say y is the positive one.... but if everyone thinks x is the positive then at least I'm more confident.

    magnetic stuff

I have Success One but I don't really understand it. For the first Q (STANSW): I know it's constant, but I don't know why y is the positive terminal.... For the second Q (HSC): mm I think I can see what Brad is saying... Thanks. (the explanation in Success One is a bit different though)

    Problem with Relativity/Simultaneity

and the explanation to this strange phenomenon would be to say that time is dilated OR length is contracted depending on how you look at it.

thats what I was going to say but I wasnt so sure so I subscribe to this thread instead aluminium shoud even be better than iron because it's a better conductor of electricity

    magnetic stuff

I dont understand these two questions... Help would be much appreciated. Thanks :) I thought in Untitled-1.jpg the positive terminal should be x. And in Untitled-2.jpg why isn't the answer B? The first one is from 2002 STANSW. The second one is from 2001 HSC.

the retracted Q5 of 2003 HSC

An astronaut set out in a spaceship from Earth orbit to travel to a distant star in our galaxy. The spaceship travelled at a speed of 0.8 c. When the spaceship reached the star the on-board clock showed the astronaut that the journey took 10 years. An identical clock remained on Earth. What...
