    School certificate exams

okay take it from me year 10's. I worked really hard throughout year 10 to do well, I was a crazy perfectionist. I studied for the exams, not as intensely as some of you are planning to but I still did really well. i.e. dux of my school. BUT I strongly recommend you save your energy for year...

    Is History Extension Capped?

exactly. but i guess getting 50 does look better than 50, assuming 49.95 would go down to 50 if it's capped. though perhaps my mathematics/logic is wrong, it usually is. who cares, let's just do our best!

    Does this sentence make sense?

no, it's a bit grammatically flimsy.

    CSSA society trial...ugh

wow congrats! she had an easier paper? special provisions or something? our results are taking awhile, probably due to the size of the cohort.

Thoughts on the CSSA 2008 Paper (SOR 1 unit)?

49/50; happy, but thought it was a fairly basic and predictable paper. Does the notion of 'trials are harder than the hsc' really apply to SOR1? Because the format and interchangeable nature of questions stay the same (except Q11 where anything can be asked regarding the pre/post 1945 area)...

    2008 Modern History Trial

wow! that's a huge jump from 89 to 95! lucky. we had ours marked by one teacher only. i would prefer it if it was double-marked, but i'm not complaining.

    National Studies HISTORIOGRAPHY

Re: makin up historians?? Textbook authors are NOT historians. They are merely collaborating information into a form suitable for a syllabus. We are repeatedly told in Extension History that textbook writers don't count. In Ext exams, many people quote Peter Heath, the author of a bunch of...

When do we receive our PIPs back?

I would like to know when the BOS sends back our PIPs, I know we don't receive our mark but like many others I have formed an attachment to that major work and don't have a hard copy of the final piece except for the one sent away...Approximate time of return, yes? merci.

English advanced score determines if you get UAI 99+?

wow... Though, that's an exceptional case. The majority of the state would never be able to achieve that UAI with a Band 5 in Standard because they wouldn't be able to achieve multiple state rankings (not to mention 2 subjects first in the state). In that light, English is crucial, particularly...

Aiming At a UAI of 95+?

yes, good genes are the key to getting a swell UAI. :| really. it's year 9. most teachers will tell you the Prelim Course & HSC are totally different from anything pre-school certificate and it's true. i.e. someone who was always first in something (Or everything) in those years may do...

English advanced score determines if you get UAI 99+?

it's possible i think, especially if you do brilliantly in everything else (i.e. band 6s well into the 90s.) p.s. amazing that that person got 99+ with standard english mark.

    CSSA society trial...ugh

I found it really good. And they hardly had anything on Industrialisation. 4 marks I think. At least it wasn't an extended response! I loved the essay questions actually...Their broad nature enabled me to draw from many concepts and ideas in my answers. I did: Work & Leisure B Popular Culture A

    is 90+ possible?

pick up History Ext, it has the potential to scale you down. try to aim for at least 40-42 in internals. Still, 90+ is attainable with those marks and ranks. good luck!

    So what did everyone get?

That's great that you didn't learn anything new about an area of history & you didn't use the chance to sharpen your skills of analysis. top work.

SOFT subjects (the easy way out) . Your thoughts?

nice to see a response from Black.Magic (OP) to all of our responses... i think he just wanted reactions. he's obviously ignorant anyway.

SOFT subjects (the easy way out) . Your thoughts?

Labelling subjects 'soft' is ridiculous. Everyone knows that to excel in anything, you have to put in heaps of work. I hate people saying Society & Culture is a joke of a subject just because they perceive it to be one of those subjects bludgers take. Granted, of course bludgers take it. There...
