I came 1st in my class, so both my assessment and exam marks were 99. It ended up being 3rd in the state, though the guy who came 1st got 99 as well, he would have just got a few decimal places higher. Yeh, i was pretty shocked, because there is SO much to learn for ancient, the syllabus is...

I did American Beauty, which is an excellent related text to do, and Tapestry by Catherine Gasgoine (look in the 2001 showcase for ext2 - she came top of the state and it's an AMAZING story, worth reading just for the enjoyment factor). Moulin Rouge is also a possibility, and Tom Stoppard's Arcadia.

99 - impressive considering i HATED the subject all year and was going to drop it at the end of year 11. the teacher was woeful!

Anyone doing this course and what was your uai? I spoke to the woman at the advisory day and it sounded really interesting and I was just wondering if anyone else put it down as a preference. I was surprised when she said they only accept 8-9 people each year.

My sister just got accepted to dentistry at Sydney Uni. She has completed her 3 yr degree of Medical Science, sat the GAMSAT earlier this year, got offered an interview, THEN finally got a letter saying she was in... It's a lot of work and an awful long time (she has 4 years of uni to go) but...

Nothing. There's no point. If you feel the need to do something, work on writing notes, working on Ext 2, or PIP's (only if you're doing them ofcourse). Always remember that the project is INTERNALLY marked so it's not the most important thing. I did mine over a couple of days in the July...

Scratch my 2nd last post.... I just got a letter today and I found out my PIP was a High Distinction PIP and I'm getting a medal/prize for it at an awards thing at the Mitchell library in February. I'm also getting something for the exam as well. Is anyone else coming??? You can only take 2...

I'm thinking about this course too. I got 99.00, so I think if I wanted to do it I could get in, but I'm putting Journalism at UTS first, because it sounds like s much more interesting course.

I got 93.... I thought I'd do better, because modern was my favourite subject, and instead I ended up getting 99 for ancient which i HATED. It would have made more sense if it was the other way around!

99.00 I want to do journalism/law at UTS next year.... the cut off last year was 98.9. Do you think I'll get it? If not that, I'll do journalism by itself at UTS

Ofcourse you can get 99 with that! I got 84 in English advanced (a complete shock as it was my best subject) but then i got band 6 for everything else and got 99.00 BUT i also got 99 in ancient history and 98 in society and culture....... so yes, your other marks do have to be quite good...

No, my PIP wasn't distinction, but I felt it was really good...... just perhaps not the type of 'politically correct' PIPs they usually like to reward. But oh well, it's the mark that matters :D:D:D I guess my exam response was also good :S
