    external hard disk

Desktop hard drives are 3.5 inches across, whilst laptop hard drives are 2.5 inches across, so this particular one is a desktop hard drive. However, if you buy an external hard drive, it comes with a connection (usually USB) to hook into your computer. Once it's in, you can install programs and...

    ions and isopopes of Fe

They only produce magnetic fields when they are magnetised. Ordinary Fe and compounds containing Fe aren't usually magnetised, off the top of my head. I_F

Jerseys for yr 12 2006! (merged)

We're still waiting for ours. We have no idea what's happening or what design they'll be. Guess we shouldn't have let the class bogan organise it... :p I_F

    ASSESSMENT doesnt count!

You have to be careful now that you don't get complacent. But still, it's nice not having to worry about rankings. Just keep up the hard work. :) I_F

    projectile motion question

Gah crap, you're dead right. That throws me right off. EDIT: No it doesn't: Therefore the angle is 35 degrees from the horizontal. Therefore the horizontal velocity = Vcos@ = 0.8191 x 120 = 98.30 m/s, so the answer is B. I think the question is poorly worded and is supposed to be asking...

    Past paper question..

    The time dilation question is: tv = t0/√(1 - v2/c2) Our rest time is 10^-6s, and our dilated time is 2 x 10^-6s. We now put those values into the formula and solve for v2. 2x10^-6 = 10^-6/√(1 - v2/c2) 2 = 1/√(1 - v2/c2) (divide though by 10^-6) √(1 - v2/c2) = 1/2 (multiply through by √(1 -...

    answer to this ?

Most man-made NOx emissions come from the high temperature conditions of internal combustion engines, but cars give off practically no sulfur, like Farmerism said. However, I think the question's a bit of a trick, since motor vehicles involve the combustion of fossil fuels. So I'd go with B -...

    Uni Courses/Preferences

I really don't have much of an idea. I like the idea of being a Physical Chemist (basically using physics, calculus, and quantum mechanics in chemistry) or an Engineer, but I'm not too positive, so we'll see. I'd like to go to Sydney Uni or UNSW, I think. I_F

    Eating habits..

I don't think my eating habits have changed hugely, but I do now have a box of M&Ms and some other snack type things on my work table - I munch more while I'm working. :p I_F

Mathematics Extension 1 - 36/36 (rank 1/4) English (Speech + Imaginative Journeys folder) - 8/10 + 23/25 = 31/35 (rank 2/14) I'm really happy with the Maths mark (average of 99.2% over our last three maths assessments :D, though to be fair, they weren't too difficult), but a bit disappointed...

    need help! projectile motion

    The working out for all these are very long, so I won't be doing them in full. Firstly, the cartensian equation for the path of the projectile is: y = xtan@ - gx2(1+tan2@)/2V2 When x is 7, y = 7 Thus 7 = 7tan@ - 245/v2(1 - tan2@) And v2 = [245(1 - tan2@)]/7(tan@ - 1) When x is...

    Some questions

Always positive to negative - the direction of the conventional current - for this topic. It's like converting millimetres to metres. Just remember the suffixes (which you should have learned all the way back in Prelim Physics) and what powers of 10 they represent. Then you can convert fairly...

Simple induction question (which i cannot do!!!)

You've only been waiting an hour. Be patient, and people will help when they can. I'm going to use sigma notation for this. I think I've gotten the notation right - if I haven't, please tell. 1Σn 4n = n/2[8 + 4(n-1)] (you have to equate the sum to the formula for the sum of an arithmetic...

Am I on the right track to a UAI of 80+

It's very hard to tell from these marks since they're not in the form of a trial exam. Rank wise, apart from Maths, you look set for 80+. I wouldn't want to say any more without trial exam marks though. I_F

    inverse trig struggle

Isn't that only the case if you have pronumerals instead of values? In this case, you have values, so you can evaluate the two and show they add to pi/2. That's what I've been taught, anyway. I_F
