    Michelson-morley

Re: Michelson-morley Help The rotation through 90 degrees swaps the light rays over, so that the one that previously went "across" the aether (let's call it light ray A) is now passing "against" the aether, and vice versa for light ray B. Then, if the aether exists, light ray A should finish...

I'm pretty sure you only need 1 element. I did ununquadium, and I had the date created, where created, how created, its atomic/mass number and position in periodic table. Then I put other interesting random info ("ununquadium-298, though not yet synthesised, is predicted to be relatively stable...

how hard is it to get 90uai

No, it doesn't. Anyone doing any combination of subjects can get 90+ as long as they work hard all year and do well in their exams. It's that easy, and it's completely independent of what subjects you're doing. As long as you do well, you're fine. I_F

Riviet: Thank God, someone's writing is worse than mine... though "without oxygen" means exactly the same thing as "anaerobic", for future reference. :p I think I wrote up a good page at least on those combined three dot points. Like Dreamerish said, you can crap on for a long while. I_F

    website stuff

You have to pay for vBulletin. If you have PHP on your server, you can run phpBB, a free open source bulletin board. It's a little fiddly to set up, but if you know what you're doing you shouldn't have any dramas. Apart from that, you could set up a free external board at Invisionfree.com - it...

the hsc cannot tell you how smart you are. discuss

Smart or no, the HSC does arguably provide a standardised way of comparing how much effort people across NSW are willing to put in to secure their future. Which, in a way, is perhaps even more important than intelligence: having the will and determination to apply your intelligence. I_F

    Economy vs Over-population

Please tell me you don't truly believe that. More people does not equal better ideas/technology. The only thing more people is assured of doing is eating their way through the world's resources that much bloody faster. The whole point of RENEWABLE resources is that they can be REPLACEABLE, which...

    Economy vs Over-population

Because this land is not the US or Europe. Ever wonder why there aren't 50 million people living in the Sahara? Or in Antarctica? Or in Greenland? They have plenty of coastline too, you know. What's wrong with living there? I_F

    Economy vs Over-population

Electric methods? Did you even read the article? It said higher temperature = more strain on agriculture = more difficulties in feeding the population and exporting. Which makes sense, as a higher temperature would assumingly lead to less rain. Australia's farmers are among the most efficient...

The Official "I (Don't) Want To Get Back To School" Thread

This holiday has gone far too quickly. But I actually wouldn't mind getting back to school - at this end of school life, it's a hell of a lot more fun. But still... just three terms left and it's all over. The first 11 years seemed to go on forever; the last two just fly by. I_F

    nuclear chem

It is neutron to proton, but the ratio is not constant and it actually changes as you go up (technically speaking, as your nucleus gets bigger, it needs more neutrons to "glue" the whole thing together and overcome the strong repulsion of all the positive charges packed in there). At low atomic...

What is Momentum? - Explanation Needed.

I learnt that momentum is the resistance to change of direction of motion of a moving object. To bastardise some terms, it's the "inertia" of a moving object (don't ever use that definition, it's not entirely right, but it makes it simpler to explain). For more information (try next time to use...

English: Reading Brave New World, will be done by the end of the week. Maths: Accelerated ahead in 2U (completed Exponentials + Logarithms, hopefully complete trig functions), revised 3U integration, about to start revising complex numbers from 4U. Chemistry: Wrote out dot point summaries...

First things first: you've paid attention to spelling, so thumbs up for that. Also, all pages worked perfectly in Firefox. Sublime Designs is visually pretty. As there's not much else there, that's all I can really say. The Brennan Air site is very nice. The only suggestion I have is that you...

    gross world product & PPP

In Leading Edge's The Market Economy, yes. It simply mentions that a straight GNI in US dollars is an inaccurate comparison due to the different buying power of currencies in different countries, so the PPP adjustment is made to account for the variations. I_F
