    HSC Assessments- Thoughts/Results

Re: HSC Assessments- Thoughts/Results v1.0 I have no idea. I think we'll just double the value of our next task - easiest way through. But still, for the tasks to just disappear, marks and all, as well as the teacher (he was superb) is very, very irritating. Not something we wanted to come...

Firstly, welcome to BoS. :) Secondly, my performance tip is to never, ever, ever show you've made a mistake. Keep going, and don't twitch, curse under your breath, or anything. If you can keep the beat constant, and pick straight back up, you'll end up with a better performance overall, and...

    HSC Assessments- Thoughts/Results

Re: HSC Assessments- Thoughts/Results v1.0 Unfortunately, our 4-unit marks were not recorded. In your case, I'm pretty sure your marks would have been recorded, but ours weren't. So we have a double problem: no marks, and no way to get them. :( I_F

    HSC Assessments- Thoughts/Results

Re: HSC Assessments- Thoughts/Results v1.0 They lost my 4-unit test. They bloody lost my friggin' 4-unit test. My maths teacher left and went to WA, and in the process our 4-unit assessments disappeared. Good grief, that's annoying. :| I_F

How was you first day back fellow Yr12s

First day back was pretty good. Went to school. Laughed at how small the Year 7 kids are. Had food. Went home. However, we've had a massive teacher turnover: I have new teachers for 4/5 subjects (English teacher was on exchange, Maths teacher left abruptly and moved to WA, Chemistry teacher...

    what TEXTBOOK do you use?!

The class uses Maths In Focus, but I find Fitzpatrick better overall. I learn the concept from Maths in Focus, and do the questions from Fitzpatrick. :) I_F

    Uai 90+

If those are HSC marks, they should guarantee a UAI of 90+. :) The only place that could happen is Ext.2 Maths. A friend of mine swore he only got about 50% in the Ext. 2 paper, and his HSC mark was 89. Not sure exactly how accurate that is, but it's all I know. You would want something around...

    Mark my words

That is probably why everyone is estimating 70-80 for you. If you want top results, you have to put the time in. They won't just happen for you. They don't just happen for anybody. To get 80-90s, you need to use your weekends, put in at least 1 hour of study a day, with 2-4 being about what most...

What would you like to see on BOS 2006?

Actually, I've seen a few vBulletin boards with WYSIWYG editing. I'm not sure if it's a hack or built in, but I know it's possible. I_F

    House M.D.

Actually, the TV guide says that House is running from 8:30 to 10:30. Implying we get one week of reruns (both Three Stories and Honeymoon in one go) and the new season the week after. I got a TV guide with the paper on Friday. :D I_F

    Good Chance

Subjects alone will not guarantee you 95+. In fact, there's no prerequisite subjects to get 95+. You have to do very well, both in internal assessments and in your final exams, to get a UAI of 95+. Subjects matter not, results do. I_F

    Heat of Combustion

1-propanol and 2-propanol have exactly the same heat of combustion - they are still propanol. So you don't need to worry about different isomers - the only thing the number changes is the place of the OH group. I_F

    Uai 90+

If those are your scaled marks, then they *should* give you 90+. However, remember that SAM uses aligned HSC marks, not scaled marks. Scaling is a whole different boat that's unavailable to students, so SAM uses different methods to estimate a UAI. Also, if you put already scaled marks into...

    From a 99% BLUDGER to a 93.05'nese{true story}

Did that remind anyone else of those really annoying chain letters that either try to get you to part with your money in some get-rich-quick scheme or to send it on to 25 of your friends because if you don't you'll be cursed and Hotmail will shut down? Having read it, unless you have a class of...

    R580 review

It's easily the fastest card available now, and it's not a paper launch - they're available if you have the money. nVidia won't have anything new till March, with the G71 (assumingly the GeForce 7900), so ATi will finally have the top of the platform back for a while. I_F

    Heat of Combustion

The only thing we know about what's being tested is that it'll most likely be from C1 to C8. If you learn the IUPAC stems for the first 8 hydrocarbons (meth-, eth-, pro- but-, etc.), and remember that bigger molecule (i.e. the little numbers add up to more) = higher heat of combustion, you'll be...

Because the dot point wants you to use sources other than your text book. As for having to know about it - you probably only need to mention it as a way new elements are produced. Don't worry about knowing exactly what it is. I_F

    House M.D.

No. They're about halfway through Season 2, and there aren't any episodes on for a few weeks, for some unknown reason. Maybe the US TV stations are just as obsessed with the ratings periods as ours... I_F

Which day do we go back in?

Ring your school and ask. I assume you have their number somewhere, and nearly all schools are up and running now preparing for the new year. Most schools also send out a "welcome back everyone" letter that tells you when you start. Look for that around the house. I_F
