    Windows Live (Hotmail, MSN, etc..)

Mail beta is pretty similar to Gmail, minus everything that's good about Gmail. They still have the banner ads, but they've introduced a nice AJAX-based interface. It's still pretty cluttered, and not as clean or well developed as Gmail is yet, but I think it works better than the old Hotmail. I_F

SURPRISE! i have Mac problems. :(

I haven't used a Mac that old for a while, but you should be able to eject the CD by restarting the computer and holding down the mouse as it starts up - until you hear the chime. Alternatively, you can restart the computer and hold down the Option key. The Startup Manager will appear, and it...

    sleeping patterns ?

I get 8 hours a night, but I'm falling asleep at late and later times... midnight is the current average. I feel tired, but I just can't fall asleep. Not good. :( I_F

    Premier's Award vs. School Speech

See if you can write into the school, or drop in a little later in the month and leave a message at the office (the school office usually opens a few weeks before students come back). That way you should be able to get a response from your principal before the RSVP date. I_F

    advice about subjects

Firstly, welcome to BoS. :) My advice is that if you don't enjoy the subject, and you're not likely to start enjoying the subject, drop it. Your workload is heavy as it is, so your time is stretched fairly thinly. The most important thing about HSC subject choices is that you like the ones you...

    Cyclic Redundancy Check error??? wtf?

Try some different disks in the drive. If you get the same error, it's a hardware problem - try cleaning out the CD drive, checking that all the cables are connected right, and/or replacing it. The most obvious solution is a damaged disk. Try the disk that gives the CRC error in a different...

I think I found another one, although this one's been registered since December. 2 posts, and both were identical, advertising some VIP card only available in the UK. http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=98766. http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=98767...

    string theory?

You may need to update your version of Quicktime or Realplayer - though I don't think that's the case since the videos are dated 2003. However, you never know. Like Riviet said, make sure your speakers are on, plugged in, and that your volume isn't muted. I_F

    DvD?

Ah, OK, sorry about that. I'll edit it out. :) Hmm... the only other thing I can think of is the player is being picky with the discs - try a different brand. Also, make sure that the movie is actually in DVD movie format, and not in Windows Movie maker's default format (.wmv). I_F

    System Programs

It sounds as though you have had a particularly malicious virus attack my friend, so this is the tack I'll take. Regedit, the Task Manager, and Msconfig are all important system-cleansing utilities that are commonly targeted by viruses (they either terminate the programs when they start up, like...

    DvD?

This is most likely the copy protection kicking in. DVD movies that are commercially produced have protection against people burning them with tools such as Nero (protect profits, really). I think you'll find that your burner is perfectly fine (try burning a compliation DVD of data as a test)...

What sacrifices will you be making for the HSC?

I wish you good luck. There almost always has to be compromises, even with a balance, but if you can find it, good on you. :) As for me, I'm cutting back on the time I spend playing computer games and sitting doing nothing on the internet. I'm definitely not cutting back on sleep (that would...

    Opening .CAB files

I think the data.cab files are encrypted in some way to protect them from people trying to crack them open for seedy operations. I don't know of any easy way to decrypt them though, so I can't help you more here. I_F

    Is it possible ........

I can't find a bridging course for Khmer Continuers - it's mainly subjects like Maths Extension, Chemistry, and Physics that have bridging course. Apart from that, you could go back to school and learn it... or find a different preference. Or do a university language course and study Khmer as a...

    Scaling

For the class assessment, it's not really marks that matter so much as rank. You could average 60% in your school assessment marks because your school sets really hard tests, but if you maintain rank 1, then you could go out and blitz the HSC exam at top the state. I_F
