Help needed with Energy dot point 4.3

We started the HSC course as soon as we got back to school, but Luthien's class is running a bit behind due to some teacher issues. I_F

    Calm before the storm

I have been given assessments for English and Chemistry, and my assessment calendar tells me that I'll also have 3 Maths assessments and a Physics assessment as well before the end of term. Probably should start some of these soon... I_F

    Ranking

If you are ranked 1st in all your subjects, then you will receive the 1st exam mark in each subject as your moderated assessment mark. This mark doesn't necessarily have to be yours. This moderated assessment mark will be averaged with your own exam mark to get the final mark used to calculate...

    *rant*

I worked ahead of the rest of the class class for the whole Chemistry Prelim course because I couldn't stand going so slowly (relatively speaking). In a way, it really helped because I learnt things twice - once by myself, and once again when the rest of the class got to it. We're onto the HSC...

    4u Class of 2006

Exercises, exercises, exercises for me too. I don't think I'll get into the past papers until term 1 next year at the earliest. At the moment we're doing roots of complex numbers, having covered De Moirve's theorem, polar form, x + yi form, and Argand diagrams. Fun, fun, fun... I_F

What laptop do u want for uni?

wow, thanks for that advice. i will go 1 gig. then what speed would i want....pentium 4 ofcourse. Don't go for a Pentium 4. They run extremely hot and consume a lot of power compared to a dedicated notebook chip. Plus, Intel's line of Pentium M mobile chips offer performance that is...

    being Positive?

If you think positively, you would probably intepret everything that happens as positive (you lose your wallet, you think "It's a learning experience... don't do that next time!"). And if you think negativey, you probably would intepret everything as negative (i.e. you win the lottery "It's all...

    Marks/scaling etc

If you get a high enough raw mark, then scaling won't matter particularly because once you're at the top, you don't go any lower. Keep in mind your moderated assessment mark is 50% of your final mark, but if you're that far ahead, you should be rank 1 and therefore have no worries here. Good...

going well in the hsc...but what about ranks?

It will depend on how well your class does as a whole. Your exam mark will be averaged with the aligned mark that corresponds to your rank. So if your class aces the test, you won't be affected too badly, but if your class spreads itself right down, then your excellent exam mark may be pulled...

    4 unit maths class structure

I've got two others doing 4 unit with me, and our classes take place in our (formerly) free periods... 16 maths periods a fortnight (20 if you count Physics) makes me a crazy boy. I_F

    http://community.boredofstudies.org/images/icons/icon4.PLEASE EXPLAIN! Maths scaleing

Scaling changes from year to year depending on the subject choices of each cohort. History has told us that General Maths tends to scale downwards, but Bands will depend on how your work is assessed by the judges - whether or not you have compled the outcomes of a particular band. Also important...

English Study Thread (for HSC 2006)

We've been watching Frontline - it's very good. I don't mind the Chaser either, and you probably should be able to use it as an additional text as it takes a similar role as Frontline. I_F

Help and Support in XP won't run

Following on from ReaveR, when the Services window comes up, scroll down to the H's, and look for Help and Support. If it's disabled/stopped, double click on it, and hit the "Start" button in the panel. Then change its "Startup type" to "Automatic", then hit OK. I_F

I'm waiting away for Intel's next generation Centrino platform (mmm, dual core laptop). When it actually comes, I'll probably go with an ASUS or an LG, but we'll see how we go. I_F

    General mathematics

    - No subjects are capped in the HSC are capped. If you go on into the HSC and get 96-97, that'll be a strong cornerstone for an excellent UAI. I_F

    UAI Calculation ...

However, you will not receive the sixth exam mark. You will receive a moderated assessment mark but it is not pegged to a specific exam mark. That only occurs with first and at times last. It is a myth that is posted too often on this site. Thanks for pointing that out. Remind me to shoot the...

    Subjects- 'What not to pick...'

Btw if you do mx2, can your 2u mark (even if it is really, really good) be counted in the uai? If you do MEX2, you don't do the Maths 2 unit course (the 2 unit HSC paper is scheduled at the same time as the 4 unit paper). Your 3 unit result counts for 2 units, and your 4 unit result counts...

    UAI Calculation ...

What happens if its the other way around? i.e, that you do well internally, but bugger up your HSC exams? Your higher ranks from the internal assessments will compensate to an extent your poorer HSC marks. Say you rank 6th internally, but stuff up and come 33rd in the exam. You will receive...
