anybody realised that we wasted 12 yrs of education? cos only yr 12 counts towards our final mark.... Try doing Year 12 without doing anything before. You can't count, can't speak, can't read, can't do anything required for the HSC. There's a reason why you have 12 years of education before...

    Maths Extension exam... sucked

True. But look at it from his perspective. The standards that he imposes on himself are far higher than the standard you impose on yourself. From his point of view, if you did know all the questions but managed to stuff them up, you'd be disappointed too. In the HSC, that could be all the...

10 Units or more for Year 12? What are you doing?

is it the more units you have the more free periods you get or is it the other way around? Usually the other way round. Depends too on what subjects you're doing, e.g. I did 12 units for the Prelim, but because I did Ext English and Ext Maths, I had four free periods per week on the line...

    Practice Essays.

Our Ext. and Adv. English teacher tried to make us to about 500 before our various English exams. The operative word being "tried". We put about as much effort into them as you would have into cleaning toilets. So yeah... I_F

wHAT should I DO!! (dropping..picking up subjects for yr12)

Get rid of the subject you like least. That's the subject you'll be least motivated to work in and thus be least likely to do well in. I_F

    Maths Extension exam... sucked

Seeing as though we had the same Physics and Chem tests as me, I'll assume you had the same Ext Maths one too. It was pretty hard, and LONG too. I think I was more annoyed at the length than the questions, although Question 6 was pretty insane. Mmmmm... Pythagorean triads.... I_F

    physics??

There's no Simple Harmonics in the physics course. I thought you went through it in more detail in the Year 12 course? We did a bit on it for the Prelim... maybe our teacher was just giving us extra stuff. I_F

yayyy! me doing 4 U maths, chem, phys and adv eng. no major works for me. That's almost exactly what I'm doing (just Economics on top). All you have to do is do as best you can in all of them, and you'll do fine. Remember the class ranks: all important you keep in the top 1-2. :) I_F

the worst case scenario is really wanting to do a course, but you can't cos you don't have the marks cos you goofed off in high school or something. You can get in second year too. Missing it the first year isn't the end of the world. Enrol in another course, blitz it, and you should be able...

I think "major work" refers to subjects that have a major work, i.e, Extension 2 English and History Extension. I don't think most subjects have on - just assessments. If you want to get 99 + UAI then tell your parents to stop stressing you out, ensure that you're rank 1 or 2 and are in a very...

    Trial school certificate

Absolutely nothing. As does the School Certificate, if you're going on to Year 11. Some schools use the Trial for your end of year marks, but in the overall scheme of things, don't get too caught up about it. It won't adversely affect you if you screw them up. I_F

    physics??

You cover quite a bit of Physics-related stuff in 3 unit Maths, like Simple Harmonic Motion. However, you don't *need* to do Physics to do 4 unit - it's just a common combination. Also, the measure of how "boring" a subject happens to be is purely subjective - the opinion differes from student...

    Physics yearly

Bricnic, I had that paper as well. I didn't study much for it (had an English paper before it... sigh), but I think I went reasonably well. The 0.4/0.6/0.9/1.0 period question confused me too, and our teacher came up after the test and said that it was wrong. Helpful of him. But overall, not too...

    UAI Q's

These questions are dependant on how many units you're doing. It's your best units that are counted - the best two of English and the best 8 of everything else. If you only keep 10 units, then everything will be counted, which means that if you stuff up one subject, your UAI will be lower as a...
