I'll be dropping science at the end of the year and switching to a straight LLB. In all honesty I don't know what employers think when they take on graduates but since I want to work as a lawyer I don't see how a science degree will work to my advantage or how your arts degree will really work...
ANU:
The "I'm doing Arts/Law with a focus on International Relations and/or Languages and/or Modern History" and im going to work for DFAT clique. Sometimes I feel that everyone except for me is a member.
The Burgmann Clique - All the colleges have their own cliques, but the Burgmann clique is...
Pretty much everyone on this site is from Sydney and I don't think any frequent posters in this particular forum go to Umelb, so you should expect a fairly Sydneycentric view.
LottoX, if you're only concerned about reputation I don't see any reason why you should uproot and come to Canberra. If...
If you're white and from Sydney you're generally either preppy, gay or both. I'd rephrase your question as "are there more selective school kids at UNSW and more white guys at Usyd?". TBH, I wouldn't know but I also wouldn't be surpised if that was true. I went to Ruse and from my grade I'd say...
If you go to a university in Sydney it is - that is unless you can afford to pay thousands in parking fees. Always, if you aren't living on campus you'll find that the social life at both universities is pretty similar. You'll meet friends, you'll join a few clubs on market day (none of which...
Re: Best rep out of the following?
Infidel! In defence of Canberra, it's very easy to say that Canberra is boring without either living in Canberra or on campus at the ANU. That aside...
- All of those universities have fairly similarly structured degrees. There are some differences but these...
I like having textbooks, they look nice on my shelf. That aside, I don't particularly care for them. I'm too lazy to walk 15 minutes down the road to pick up some of my first year books that I gave out last semester.
You know, I've lived in Canberra for around a year and a half now and still haven't gone to the UCU bar.
Electric Wizard, Behemoth, Alchemist, Dungeon, Psycroptic and Covenant are some of the more memorable bands that I've seen live.
Re: What subjects should I take if I want to do Law after high school?
Perhaps you should save comments like that until you're actually at university? You don't need a UAI of 99+ to do law. You don't need to do well in English to do law. Speaking fluent English, is of course absolutely...
I reckon that anyone pursuing a career at a big law firm with an intention to "change the world" is deluded. In fact, I'd say that graduates who head to big law firms were never idealistic in the first place. The 2002 ABS Legal Services Survey showed that lawyers in large firms did 77 hours less...
