UAI Scaling: Advice from a 2003 Student

Q:Why do some subjects get sh*t scaling? A:With some subjects, more people get high marks, so a mark of say 80 in that subject could mean the person is in the bottom half of the that group. While in some other subjects where the marking is tough, 80 could well mean the person is in the top 10%...

    any advice plz!

Your subject choice should reflect what you want to do in universtiy too. I think Ancient history is definitely a better choice than chemistry because the latter is so distorted that it lost it's essence. 90 is ancient history is definitely much better than 70 in chem, you can check the table...

More questions from the ends of papers

    It's usually more convenient to do: a = b (true statement) ma = mb ... LHS = RHS than LHS= = ... = RHS

    Stuck :(

    the double angle formulae are cos(2x) = [cos(x)]^2 - [sin(x)]^2 sin(2x) = 2sin(x)cos(x) tan(2x) = 2tan(x)/(1-tan(x)^2) the result there is a difference of angles formula :D

    Stuck :(

    What about straight trig. cos(2x - x) = cos(x) cos(2x)cos(x) + sin(2x)sin(x) = cos(x) divide both sides by cos(2x)sin(x) cos(x)/sin(x) + sin(2x)/cos(2x) = cos(x)/sin(x) * 1/cos(2x) cot(x) + tan(2x) = cot(x) * sec(2x)
